EAB/Lemon Super League 2017: Round 3 Game Vote

EAB/Lemon Super League 2017: Round 3 Game Vote (Special Round - PD Games)
Starts: 00:01 February 5 Finishes: 23:59 February 18

Rules

Full rules are here.

Vote for five games.

Your first choice gets 5 points, second 4 pts, third 3 pts, fourth 2 pts, fifth 1 pt.

This is the vote for the first special round of the season. When voting you can only choose games that are listed as either Public Domain, Freeware, Shareware, Coverdisk full games, Promotional, or even hidden games. Basically anything considered non-commercial. The two games with the most votes will be played. If you are in doubt about a game's status, ask in the thread before you vote, or contact a Moderator. It will be sorted out before the end of voting.

Remember to choose games suitable for competition play. Edited votes will be discounted (unless told otherwise) so think before you post. Please only vote on one board - either EAB or Lemon.

If a game comes in ECS and AGA versions, please state your preference in your vote. In the event the versions differ gameplay-wise, the version with most votes will be played. ECS is the default if you don't specify.

The winner of Round 2 will have their vote doubled for Round 3 (i.e. 1st place = 10 pts, 2nd = 8 pts etc).

Tactical or nosey voters can see the Lemon voting thread here.

Time to kick things off. I'm guessing most people aren't too well versed in PD games

1. The Incredible Adventures Of Moebius Goatlizard (DX version)
2. Diamond Thief
3. Death Angel
4. Pacman '96
5. Asteroids (on Amiga Power 37 coverdisk)

Deluxe Galaga isn't valid because it appears in the Already Played list above

(I should have gone for Blocky Skies...)

Into the second week of voting, and still only four votes in total. It's almost as if most people know nothing about PD games

I'm the first to put my hand up and say that, outside of magazine cover disk fillers in the 1990s, I've never played PD stuff much.

I think if you are interested in programming and Amiga game development then perhaps you are more likely to be playing PD games today because it's part of the home brew scene.

It's a shame because I've missed some classics; The Incredible Adventures of Moebvius Gotalizard is a good example of one I'm picking up now...

I would say most people haven't really done so, if at all, which is a big shame as there's a hefty number of perfectly suitable and fun games which only need to be uncovered. Last year was interesting as we had two PD games in the Mystery Rounds (thus losing two obvious candidates for this round and possibly making things trickier). Hopefully these rounds go some way to addressing the 'knowledge gap' and will encourage more people to go digging around the PD archives to find a few gems (yes, there is a huge amount of rubbish to wade through too).

Still, voting is looking a bit healthier. Hopefully with two days to go we can squeeze in a few more.

Voting is now over, and after a late flurry we have our two games for the next round!

1. The Adventures Of Quik And Silva - 22
2. Blocky Skies - 17

3. The Incredible Adventures Of Moebius Goatlizard - 12
4. Sneech - 12
5. Pacman '96 -12

Total votes: 13 - Total games voted for: 28

Quik And Silva finally makes it in after beng close several times, and it is highly pleasing to see a 2016 release make it into the competition - that will be one to look forward to.

(Technically, Blocky Skies can still be overtaken by Goatlizard, however that relies on me winning Apidya, and I think we can safely rule that one out.)
