EAB/Lemon Super League 2019 Round 11: Game Vote
Starts: 12:01 August 11th Finishes: 11:59 August 25th

Vote for five games.

Your first choice gets 5 points, second 4 pts, third 3 pts, fourth 2 pts, fifth 1 pt.

Remember to choose games suitable for competition play. Edited votes will be discounted (unless told otherwise) so think before you post. Please only vote on one board - either EAB or Lemon.

If a game comes in ECS and AGA versions, please state your preference in your vote. In the event the versions differ gameplay-wise, the version with most votes will be played. ECS is the default if you don't specify.

We got an offer to be provided with versions of the 2018 game Worthy for competition. So you can vote for it now.

Nice top 3. About a year ago I cranked up CF; I read a few reviews and got stuck into the first game but only had time to play the first few missions before the comp took over my focus. Be cool to give it a proper run.

And Magic Pockets, what a game. Bitmap Bros at their peak. An out and out platformer. Back in 2011 I totally didn't get involved in the round properly...

Forgot that we had voted for Cannon Fodder a few times but for some reason remembered it this morning.

Despite its atrocious framerate I enjoyed Magic Pockets a lot eight years ago. IIRC I reached the final world but couldn't beat it. This and Gods I really want to complete some day. We should allow the NTSC versions if we play either again - they are a bit smoother than the PAL versions (I think NTSC is 20fps and PAL 16.7fps).

Not that I am against but it's quite a new game (~1 year old if I remember correctly) and I think it's better if the team behind it sell a few more copies... No?

They probably speculate us playing it thoroughly could lead to more sold copies (if we enjoy it).

We'll have to talk about counter-measures when people just register on EAB to get a free copy...

It was very kind of the team behind Worthy to offer the game for the compo. At first we thought it would be ok to restrict entry and copies to those who have already played in the compo this year, but I think it was agreed the game should be free to anyone who enters. At this stage Im not sure if the game will be a 'compo special edition', with some scoring changes to help us score it, or a stock version. Either way, it was very good of them to offer, and its available to vote for until the end of the season (its a 1995> game, and also a mystery) so Im sure it will be played at some point.

Probably best to not get too hung up on the value of the game, as if its a compo special edition then its not the same as the commercial product, and is like a showcase version to show off the game - like a press release pack. The advertising on two web sites and the buzz might encourage people to buy the product and register it, and for others it will be a free sampler to see if they would have liked it, if they had bought it. Lets be honest, at this point Worthy looks like a budget or non-commercial game, although I havent tried it yet, as I dont own it, and I think this is part of the issue. They already made their money back on the game by now, and are probably getting ready for a new game, so either way, its a bonus.

If you guys do vote to play Worthy in a round, we will provide the only version we have, which is the "full" version. We hope this version will provide a good platform for a competition round, as even if two people complete the game, they will almost certainly have a different score, and the more skilled player's score will be higher.

Are far as our motivations, we are not really hoping this will drive sales or anything, so aside from supporting this forum (and Lemon), we felt we would enjoy watching skilled gamers play Worthy "hard"
