Good IFF Slideshow program for Native Amiga

Hi Guys.

I'm trying to create a slideshow disk in ADF format for WinUAE that displays my IFF files (ive converted them with photoshop from JPG to IFF 320x240 256Colors). They are pictures from my last Amiga-meeting 1 week ago in Netherlands/Maarssen.

I searched Aminet but im kinda lost.

Does anyone here know a good CLI/SHELL IFF slideshow program, perhaps with a music MOD support included? Need to run it on a Amiga 500/1200 from boot (Startup-sequence).

I'm not sure which slideshow program would be best to use, but I do hope someone here can sugest a good one.

I think you would be better off making two versions for AGA and OCS though. If you have already reduced the colours down to 256, it should show fine on the A1200, but on the A500 each image will have to be remaped and displayed in HAM6 in real time. And although HAM6 is 4,096 colours, the palette is locked with 12bit values and will lose plenty of shades. You would be better off using an Amiga program to convert the original 24bit images into HAM6, and making a separate A500 version.

Be sure to save them as compressed IFFs and use a slideshow program that preloads the next image before displaying it, rather than showing it as it's loading. Even in 512kb chip you should be able to have two 12bit 320x240 images in memory. You might want to experiment with the MODs you use though, too many large samples will eat up your Chip RAM too, so try and find a nice, small MOD.

Thanks.

I tried running 1 IFF file on a A500 and it displayed fine with 256 colors. i think this is the max for A500 without using HAM.

Compressed IFF i dont know because Photoshop CS4 doesnt include that option. i think Corel Paint Shop Pro has that feature tho so i could try that one.

I included an example in the attachment here, photoshop has a fine color reduction method.

right now i converted it back from 320x240 256colors IFF to JPEG (otherwise it wont show up in this forum

No, you did not do this. An A500 cannot display more than 32 colors at the same time. 64 colors in EHB mode at max.

Your photo shows an A1200, not an A500.

That picture is from the meeting itself. thats not my Amiga and yes that picture shows an A1200.

Like i said well i ran it in WinUAE in complete A500 mode and it runs fine with a 256 color picture. ill try it on my real A500 then see what it does.

UPDATE : i made a mistake indeed, i ran the WinUAE in A1200 mode while thinking it was running in A500 mode for some reason. in A500 mode DirOpus cannot display that screenmode.

the last part means, it contains a virus, so be carefull and install a viruskiller

Yeah thanks to photoshop cs4 which has great color reduction.. demo-maniac couldnt handle 64 color IFF.. While Amiga 500 can display it tho.. it was just the program that was limited i think.

AGA Version of slideshow disk. unfortunately no Hi-res pictures but lo-res 256 colors crunched on 2 disks with crunch-mania 1.91t. looks alot better then A500 version.

Demomaker couldnt handle Hi-res for some reason, and anyway the filesizes are huge 640x512 256 IFF

Different way to show an Amiga-meeting - neet with the music, reminds me a bit of getting a coverdisk - I dont think Photoshop would do 64 EHB mode, you probably have to do that on the Amiga but still the 32 colour looks fine. Could you upload your version of Demo-Maniac.

There are no-no things on that site trackah123, so could you please remove the links? Those disks are also available on the EAB file server (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=43633) in the folder 'TOSEC/Applications/[ADF]' (Demo Mania).
