It's not really any different to setting up PPC on a real Amiga. First follow a guide for setting up OS3.9 (there are lots of these around) such as johnims picture guide for Classic Workbench 3.9:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=61180 Once you have 3.9 running you'll want to setup WinUAE to have PPC support, I suggest you enable the following options: Chipset Tab; Extra Chipset A4000 Rom; use KS3.1 40.68 for A4000 Ram; Advanced memory settings choose 'CyberStormPPC' You will need the Rom file for CSPPC (this should be in 'The Zone' still) You will need the QEMU plugin installed in your WinUAE directory (see here: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=75062 ) You will need to install the following files within OS3.9 to enable PPC support: WarpOS 4 + 5.1 update; You can get them here: http://www.haage-partner.de/download/Amiga/WarpUP/ Install them both and then after restart your Amiga (Emulator) That's it, you're done and ready to try some WarpOS software, try ADoomWOS and QuakeWOS on Aminet (you will need the WAD files for Doom and the ID1 folder from a PC install of Quake) Next step would be to install some kind of RTG, either Emulating a PicassoIV and installing Picasso96 or using UAEGFX* for RTG. I've not tested UAEGFX and PPC support yet so I can't confirm if this combination works. If you go PicassoIV you will need the Rom file which again is probably in the zone. I hope this points you in the right direction! |

Thanks Fitzsteve. I can only install and restart WarpUp 4.0 -I select compatible version 7-. Installing the 4.0 update selecting the same the installer complains about some missing file in the installer -it doesn't have the V7 drawer that the 4.0 has-, so I select WarpUp 14 and then after rebooting WinUAE 3.0.0 complains with this:

Only possible reply is: winuaelog.txt is missing (What are 7 and 14?)
UAEGFX works fine. It only stops working if PPC runs the driver. With WarpOS and PowerUP m68k is in control of the system. |

With OS 3.9 you don't need to download files from H&P, just use the OS 3.9 installer to install PPC support.

If logging option in Paths panel won't help, you need to run winuae with -log -logflush command line parameters (without -logflush crash causes it to lose part or all of the log) "winuae.exe -log -logflush"
appcompat file is mostly useless, dump file is more useful but use latest beta to generate it. |

Sorry it's just I didn't find it. It was created. I haven't changed the command line though, as I don't know which is the name of the file that I should edit.

Log is strange, it looks like it isn't complete.
Your config does not have any CyberStorm RAM configured. PPC can't work without onboard RAM. (PPC reset vector points to CSPPC RAM) It shouldn't cause crashes but it isn't very tested use case.. (A4000 also does not normally have any Z2 RAM) |

Thanks Toni. Yep it was just that. I've added now 128mb ram to the Cyberstorm and it works.
I still have to try any game. Edit: I was going to try Wipeout2097, but it needs Warp3D, and the Warp3D installer first asks for the graphic system to use and lets you choose betwen - Cybergraphx V3/V4 or - Picasso graphic card, so that's right for my picasso drivers, but later it asks you to choose for the graphic device among - Cybervision64/3D or - CybervisionPPC/BlizzardVisionPPC or - Avenger/Vodoo3. So can't I run my Picasso IV zorro III? Edit: Oh, I see there is a recent thread asking just the same http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=75269. I don't find an answer though. Today I tried to configure a OS3.9 PPC, everythings fine, I performed as a test AdoomPPC and QuakeWOS with positive result, the only problem is that the games did not start correctly, perhaps a problem of setting video, you have any advice or suggestion to give?

I've tested ppc emulation vs 68k state and from the very first impressions I've gathered it is seriously lacking behind. So I guess there's not much point running it on PPC

The speed is about the same, what changes is the Stability, the OS3 68k emulation is much more stable.

Sometime ago I did some tests on doom and quake on 68k, now I was able to have the PPC working and those blew the PPC by a 10x . Amazing work by Tony
