29,180 Love this game! IF you miss your score, just select end and wait a few seconds, the game goes into demo mode with your score intact! (i always forget, do we use continues) Always loved playing this in 2-player, hassled everyone in my family to play, even my mum! This is the only game i ever discovered a cheat without reading about it, 99 extra lives!! (not for comp though) Now i better get a decent score!! BTW, game loops!! gets faster and harder!! ( dont think that will be me doing it at this age ) |

37,710 Very frustrating game. I don't have the patience for these "one mistake = game over"-games these days... Died at the 2nd boss. |

Yup and I hate these growing walls that completely block your way if you don't know where they are This plus me not really being a 8-bit fan = maybe I just concentrate on Tempest

I'm surprised that you don't know this game blade002
It was first released in the arcades in 1986: http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9410 The first port I ever played was on the C64 which was released in 1988 and IMHO was quite cool at the time: http://www.lemon64.com/games/details.php?ID=2208 |

It's great that those Konami shmups (Gradius, Salamander, Lifeforce) share the same powerup system - you played one of them, you know how to handle all of them, and can enjoy the action!

Salamander and Lifeforce is the same game.
Lifeforce is the Euro/US version and Salamander is the Japanese version. The C64 version on the other hand is the other way around (almost), Salamander in Europe and Lifeforce (not to be confused with the horrible game by CRL) in the US. It's also worth mentioning that the C64 version is more accurate to the arcade version because the NES/Famicom version has more levels (the egyptian level and the "skeletal" level with the boss Giga (the humongous skull). Still the NES/Famicom version is by far the best of them all including the arcade version. 278,060 Bah I'm out of practice.. oh well it's good enough for me. 418,420 Better but still not good enough. It seems when I die the first time, I enter the fail-zone and continues to make one blooper after another. Oh well, I love this game anyway. |
