Some CD32 problem
Hi there guys.
I'm opening this thread because one of my two CD32, after years of good service, has started to refuse working with CD-R's. Originals do work properly still, but it seems something inside the unit wants to be retired. I'm actually working with my "backup" unit, yep, that's why i have two. These are the tests i've done so far. Tried the CD drive in question on it's own console and then on the working one, with same results. No leaking caps involved. In fact my "backup" unit, is revision 4.1 so it has the caps properly installed. Tried to adjust the lens using the known tutorial with no results. After hours trying i only managed to get things worse, actually i've been able to make the drive to read originals and audio CD's properly again. I do suspect the problem could be the lens... Maybe it's almost burned out after so many years of use. I've read on a thread here it can be replaced for a new one, a KSS 210 ARP lens, however, as long as i'm not really sure this could be the problem i'm opening this thread. Please post your oppinion about this and let's return this CD32 to life. If a lens replacement is needed i would like to know where to find some of these KSS210ARP lenses, bec it seems they're quite difficult to find. Thanks to all! |

So should i get it like more than probably this fault is caused by a lens burnout?
Do i need specifically a KSS210ARP, or could it be a KSS210A? |

Very interesting data Loedown... And that's why these CD-R's with darker substract do work even worse than the ones with brighter substract...
Pure logic... But interesting indeed... So we can call my lens dead and replace it. Thank you guys. |
