the CPLD's are infact
XC7336, 36-Macrocell CMOS EPLD (probably not so good for this project) and XCR3128XL, 128 Macrocell CPLD Now the IDE project only uses a 72 cell CPLD, which rules out the 7336, but you could easily use the R3128XL's, on top of this you could also fit the code to have upto 8MB fast ram too... I have a small cache of 10, if you want one for your tests / research we can sort that out for postage heres the pdf view of the 9572 (72 macrocell CLPD) used in the IDE project heres a pdf view of the R3128XL which could easly be implemented into this project now, the only problem is the core voltage, although the signal lines are 5volt tollerant, you would need a small 3.3v regulator from the 5v rail to the CLPD... there very cheap and i will put up a circuit when i get some time after dinner |

Great ! Thanks for the topo Zetro.
I would like to use some CPLD for a 4/8MB fast ram and maybe some ethernet chipset ? Well, that's a wet dream I had |

Love to grab one of those 3128 to start play in the new world of CPLDs (new to me, @ least). You can toss one inside the box with that SCSI controller, please? PM me if you need my street address. |

I think this is not enough. Don't we need to use some schmitt-triggers in the rails to make them 5V compatible, too? Or a sort of DC-DC adapters in the rails since the IDE side maybe cannot cope with the 3.3V signals? Opto-couplers, perhaps? |

hmmmm
a good concern, i hadn't thought of that.... personally i would like to test it before lumping triggers or opto's... i have no doubt though that the cable length would need to be shorter than normal though... hmmm.... something to muse over my dinner break |

Hi guys! i have this IDE adapter, and i have a problem, maybe anyone here can help me
i install the Ide68k and the workbench's hdtoolbox detect it fine and i can install the workbench in the hd... but when i boot from hd, waits 3 or 4 minutes In the boot setup of kickstart 3.1 (2 buttons of mouse pressioned on reset) it shows me three units can boot and his boot priority: DF0 - Boot priority 5 (floppy) CC0 - Boot priority 3 (PCMCIA slot card¿?) DH0 - Boot priority 0 (HD detected and fully funcional) The Kickstart 3.1 was detected a "fake" PCCARD slot and assing it a bigger boot priority than the DH0, and searching the fake pcmcia slot for boot it, slows the boot of the HD... Can be my supposes true? in that case, can be fixed by a hardware trick? Thanks you... and excuse me for my bad english |

@nandove
Hello there, you can change the boot priority of the HD to a higher priority in the HDTools, make it higher than 5 |

Maybe this is the Enchantment... but i detect and solve this problem thanks to your indications a little explain: I've installed the ide68k in a A500 with this ampliation: http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/a2mb500 and for itself the 3.1 bios not detect any pcmcia, but in combination with your IDE68k, the boot bios detect a "fake pcmcia" in 3 boot order 0_o Its very extrange, and the hdtoolbox can't change the boot priority of the partition, (¿a bug of workbench's hdtoolbox?, change it in advance options and save it... changes nothing!) but in the floppy install was a folder named prephd and there other folder named scripts(or something like that) i've edit a script to tell him how big i want the partition and what boot order i need. i did it and in the boot setup i see the change and it boots really faster. Thanks you and i hope this info helps to anybody who can have a problem similar to me. |

To fix it, when you put a new value on advanced settings, always press enter after each new value (clicking on make changes will not change anything!). Last edited by rkauer; 02 July 2008 at 19:00. |

How to fit a Buddha Phoenix adapter in an A2000
Sorry gents.
I have an A2000 machine and bought a Buddha Phoenix adapter from Amigakit.com. No matter what I do the A2000 simply can not find the adapter. Trying to install the software aborts, as it can not find the Buddha adapter. I really must be getting old as I am at the end of my line. I removed the scsi adapters and 40GB drives as I thought they might interfere. I removed the GVP8HD+ zorro plug in, no matter what I do the Buddha adapter is simply not found. I also removed the Rom switcher, just in case. The exactly same result. I tried the adapter with 32 GB CF drives, 2 GB CF drives, 1 GB IDE drives and 250 MB IDE drives, same result. The adapter simply does not exist as far as the A2000 is concerned. SORRY I JUST NOTICED THAT I AM IN THE WRONG SECTION. Please some real help is needed here. Regards |

Maybe Jope or Toni move your ask to a new thread.
But first a little advice: move the Buddha to another Zorro slot and try again. Boot from a Workbench 2.0x (or up) floppy (with ks2.0x and up, of course), issue a command "showconfig" or start the good/old sysinfo program to see if your card is recognised by your Amiga. |

Yes I hope they can move it to a new thread. I must be really getting old.
I tried to use KS 1.3, KS 2.05, Ks3.1 rom's no effect whatever. I tried all zorro slots from 1 to 8, always the same result, nothing. I used the good/old Sysinfo, but the card does not show up. However I did not try Sysinfo with the card in all slots. Will do that, maybe ........ I do hope the best as I have plenty of really big Ide hard drives lying around. I consider anything under 300 GB a medium or small drive. In my PC I use 15 x 300+ GB drives in 3 raid 5 arrays. So all my smaller drives 100 to 200 GB are waiting to be used in some other machine. |
