@Zetr0

The "pure" SCSI disk, that works says gvpscsi2.device in the boot selection - is that the same as tekscsi2? It's native to the A4000DT-060.

Well that just sucks I guess the easiest way would be to just use FFS for the boot partition.

Time I've got, but romsplit and remus I know nothing about. I'll look 'em up.

Hmm, can't even get it to work with ffs. I'm using IDE0 in WinUAE, should I choose another for the real hd?

SFS is ROMable, it takes up a lot of room but it *should* allow you to boot from an SFS partition on the T-Rex (at least it did work here on my TekMagic). Like Zetr0 mentioned, you can use Doobrey's outstanding tools to create the custom ROM, and mumaprom from Thor's MMULib package to test it before burning.

WRT the SCSI adapter, I had a difficult time getting it going as well, but IIRC it did eventually work with the TekMagic - might have been some confusion on my end with the jumpers.

Hi - it's been a while since I have last been here!

I just wanted to share a funny little thing I discovered a couple of nights ago - I opened up my GVP Impact II HD+, played with the memory jumpers and found out that my unit actually has 8 MB memory on board instead of the 4 MB it was earlier configured to... Talk about a cheap memory upgrade!

Be sure to run a memory test. I have a power flyer that was reporting 8 meg, but the upper bank had a dead simm so I kept having lock ups. Ran the memory test off of the mx1230a accelerator install disk and found the dead simm, but workbench was reporting all the ram.

later,

Dabone - A good point, I'll try a memory test the next time I boot up the thing!

Hmm, seems my GVP really does have only 4 MB. It booted fine when jumpered to 8 MB, and WB showed 8 MB fast ram, but almost any game I started with WHDLoad crashed with the Guru #80000003 (an address error or somethng)

I even managed to do successful memory testing (jumpered to 8 MB) using the a1k.org Memorytester by Stingray and ville9 (like $0020000 to $00220000 to check the lower end, $009ff000 to $009fffff to check the last kilobytes, also a couple of regions in the middle).

So, I guess I'll just enjoy my A500 with the memory it has - 1MB chip and 4MB fast.

I have just aquired a IDSCe/r bridge adaptor, and in HD Toolbox it recognizes the drive and will allow for partitioning, but when you try to format the partition, is says patition not mounted.

It could be that it was jumpered to 4MB because the upper memory was faulty, yes. Remember that WHDLoad crashes least on A1200/A4000, but you probably tested the same games before and they didn't guru?
