The mystery that is Hostile Breed

If there is one game I am hunting for, it has to be Hostile Breed. I wonder why it still hasn't surfaced on Internet after all those years.

Having read the HOL entrance of Hostile Breed, I saw it was reviewed in Amiga Power. I also have reviews of this game in magazines Amiga Format, Amiga Joker and CU Amiga. In every magazine the game scores between 70%-85% and is generally regarded as a difficult but innovative shoot-'em up.

Palace Software, the publisher of Hostile Breed, ran into financial problems when this game was released, so it may not have appeared in the shops.
But I am more and more sure back in the days when I swopped Amiga games on monthly Amiga events, I could get a crack of Hostile Breed. The game came on two discs, but I hadn't any empty discs left to copy it!

I really wish someone can confirm he/she has Hostile Breed on some discs. After all, a game that is reviewed by so many mags simply cannot have disappeared.

If you could get us the vital stats on those reviews (issue #, date, pages) it would make our info in HOL more complete!

I will have another archaeological dig for it when I get home (I found the dreadful Renegade III last week, after all...)

Yeah, I am pleasantly surprised Renegade III has surfaced after all. It is one of the games I thought which was never released. Do you know a version of Renegade II: Target Renegade exists?

Yeah, I think that would be a cool supplement in the absence of the real thing, particularly when considering the MIA status and all.

I'm looking through stuff now for Hostile and a few other requests. I'm still glad RIII surfaced, but it's a truly abysmal affair. As for RII, it seems unlikely but I am amazed every day still at some of the things that are getting unearthed, so who knows!

I have a very old issue of Zzap! (April 1989) which features a Renegade 3-ad as found on HOL. I played it on C64 but wasn't impressed by it back in the old days.

However, Renegade 3 for Amiga is one of the games I sought the past few years but I never mentioned it in EAB. There is still a HUGE list in my head of games I am after.

LOL! OK, I shall go post this little odd thing. For the full-blown effect, play as much of the game as you can stand, then go to HOL and view the advert and try to imagine it being designed to sell that game.

Anyway, here are some statistics about the reviews:
- Amiga Format, Issue 37, August 1992, page 94, Rating: 78%;
- Amiga Joker, Issue 6, June-July 1992, page 76, Rating: 66%;
- CU Amiga, July 1992, page 69, Rating: 77%.

If possible, can anyone please, please, please upload scans of the Hostile Breed Amiga Power-review in The Zone or PM it to me? I want to add the reviews to my site. Your contribution will be mentioned on the site.
