CD32 TF328 + 'Edu Arana' Dual CF Adaptor & OS3.5

Hi all,

I wanted to share this with everybody.
I 'upped' my console to AmigaOS3.9 the other day and regretted it.
I think the TCP/IP stack starts to make the thing have a slight pause, I went back to OS3.5.

Anyway... My journey into getting as fast as hell console out of the TF328 and a few OS patches from Aminet.
You will need the newest firmware 'v41' for the TF328 for this -

I managed to get the second CF recognised with the dual CF adaptor and the CF to SD adaptor plugged into the second slot.
After partitioning the second CF with HDToolBox, it does not show up at all as unformatted after a reboot.
I had to mount it with mounter in Tools.
I could then access the partition and format it PFS3.

All partitions are now PFS3 and the system is like sh!t off a shovel.
Well happy.
I added the following to my Startup-Sequence after doing some digging (found on Aminet docs for each one are there and explains what each does)...

C:blazewcp
C:Fblit
C:Ftext

Basically these offload the icon memory & system rom to fast ram.
It's so fast and no icon lag refresh.
I also used the latest icon.library (again, found on Aminet) and the 020 version has been added also.

Even with the above patches I still had a weird freeze on 3.9??? I think it has something to do with the tcp/ip as I haven't installed it on 3.5.

The only thing I noticed is that when the second CF is enabled, there is no cd activity light when a cd is put in the drive or accessed.
As soon as you unplug the second CF card (on the ribbon end) the CD light comes back (I do have the 'shared light' mod).

It's no issue for me... but someone might be interested to know.

I hope this helps you guys... I aim for a nice running CD32
Anybody else noticed the TF328 chucks the Flashback intro gfx way ahead of the music because of the accelerated ram? lol
I'll post some below.

Hey!
I'm trying to do the exact same thing (also with the Arana dual CF adapter) But I'm not having too much success ...
Both of the CF cards work (I can boot from both when I remove/apply the "master" jumper) but I can't access them at the same time. HDToolbox also doesn't show them.
Did you use an updated SCSI.device ? What do you mean exactly by "I had to mount it with mounter in Tools"
I am using WB 3.1 by the way, not 3.5.
Any tips or magic sauce?

Heh ... and suddenly it works ... no idea why, but I'm not complaining.
the 2 CF cards are accessible now at the same time.
I think I'm going to settle for the "betterWB" install (http://lilliput.amiga-projects.net/BetterWB.htm)
Its clean, up to date and really flies on the CD32/TF328 setup.

I am glad you enjoy BetterWB.
It has been a rewarding journey to see how many people have found it usefull.

You need this http://aminet.net/package/driver/media/SCSI4345p

The scsi.device 43.43 that comes with OS3.9 (bb2?) is no good with TF328, I struggled for quite a while with it too.

That's looks like a pretty cool WB version.
I'll have to test it someday.
I'm glad you got your dual adaptor working

ClassicWB_ADV_v28 and it works very good, but if yours is better then i am going to use that one.

Mine is different.
It is like comparing apples with oranges. We aim for different goals.
