Yes, I remember Rick Dangerous III ;-p
It was 2D side-scrolling with the same big-jawed style of graphics, with no loading or screen switching except between world locations. The new enemy was the reptilians who are secretly controlling society, and you had to go around tracking them down and clearing out them in their elitist positions of society. Set back in the 1920's or something, when Hoover (a reptilian) was in charge of the FBI. Humans had to be killed once. Reptilians had to be killed twice, first as humans, the second time when their skin peels away and their reptilian form is revealed. Same two styles of weapons, guns/projectile, and bombs/sliding. Any modern tech was the kind of retro-futuristic stuff, that people today imagined the people back in the day imagined we would have. Rick had to go to a ruin and explore below to uncover some reptilian proof.. |

How about an Amiga remake of the MSX title "la-mulana" which was also ported to the PC and the Wii?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La-Mulana Very much in the Rick Dangerous style. All the gfx maps and strats are done. Just need permission |
