DivX Playback
This is probably a futile effort, but being a big fan of this format, I wanted to get this running on my A1200.
I installed a divx library, and some player (forgot its name, might have had "moo" in it). Tried to open a small test divx I created on the PC in Virtualdub, 320x240 using v3.11 - but it said something like "unknown format" when attempting to open in Workbench. Even if I get it running, I'm not expecting more than 5fps (lol) - but I want to see it anyway! Any ideas? |

A1200 with a 68030 Blizzard (8mb fast ram on board).
It should at least run shouldn't it? I definately have the 68xxx library, and not the PPC version. |

5fps might be an overestimation then :/

lol - probably.
I remember mpeg playback was pretty dire when I first tried that a couple of years ago. The poor video chip isn't built for this 24bit video malarky. |

You will really need a gfx card and 060 for good playback
what you need to play divx's is Moovid (registered - about £10 iirc) V1.6 afaik it's the only player for the amiga that supports Divx... There is a free (Divx-MooVid) version that supports OpenDIVX but then that's a slightly different format according to the author he can get speeds of 23+ fps with 060 + PicassoIV I can't verify this as I have the commercial version and he hasn't done the 1.5 > 1.6 update patch yet |

"There is a free (Divx-MooVid) version that supports OpenDIVX but then that's a slightly different format"
Ahh, that explains it. OpenDIVX is indeed a different format to DIVX 3.11. I must have the free Moovid version. Found it through a link in www.divx-digest.com "according to the author he can get speeds of 23+ fps with 060 + PicassoIV" I would hope that applies to high resolution clips (640x352), but I very much doubt it. Even a PC with a good gfx card needs some 400mhz to decode this quality video Maybe I'd better stick to YAFA, lol. |

This patch is working only with the shareware/registered version of MooVId, and it is NOT suitable for the commercial version (MooVId Professional). |
