Error Player MIDI

I have a strange problem the excellent MrMIDI Player of AFA OS, virtually on my old OS 3.9 the player works perfectly, while the same program copied AFA OS does not open me the request to load the MIDI file. If I try to upload a file from the GUI I have a redirect error with error code 10, strange because i made the settings in the same way on OS3.9, attaching two screenshots exhaustive.

Also tested with AmiKit, with this system seems to be even more problems to start MrMIDI, i can not even start the program. About AFA_OS the problem seems to be linked to MUIRexx in particular on the script called "Eject.rexx", do you know if there is a newer version of MUIRexx?, I have "MUIRexx_3_0a"

in snoopdos you can get more information about the process, when you enable "Functions" and enable ALL System and ALL AmigaDOS.
enlarge the cloumns of the snoopdos window, so you can see the full path, next you can save the buffer (snoopdos menu) and attach it here.

Thanks emufan, solved the problem "Request File" substituting your own file "queue-handler" v.40.4 with the previous version v37.12. Now the Midi files can be loaded but still can not play them because the player button "It is stopped" shortly after pressing.
Snoopdos I create an empty log file, maybe I'm wrong in saving?

i've installed MrMidi GmPlay MuiRexx and all i get is a bunch of errors.
not a bit of the gui itself for now, this is really no fun ...

snoopdos - the intuition menu has a buffer section on the right side, there you can save the buffer itself. it will save what you got listed within the snoopdos window. should work.

You have installed all the requirements?

- A fast Amiga ( 68040 or better)
- GMPlay 1.3/1.3a ( installation, Assign GM: to -> Directory GMPlay -> Check if present in Env-Archive if a GMDIR and correct the path
- MUIRexx 3.0a ( Dev/Mui) or better
- MUIRexx ( installation Assign -> MUIRexx: )
- MUI 3.0 (util/libs) or better (check whether there is in MIU/Libs lil file "Icon.mcc")
- Rexxutil.library 33.159 or better (included in MrMIDI archive)
- ARexx ( supplied with Workbench disks )

MrMIDI (GMPlay Engine) is an extraordinary player who does not need a sound card dedicated, sampled instruments used as tools files that are in the path GMPlay

Now I do some testing, snoopdos 3.8 It is not very stable on AFA_OS

thanks for your guide, the GM: assign was missing, BUT, now i get
"failed to create application" , by MuiRexx - issued in the MrMidi start script.
bit frustrating, i give it another try.

Mr MIDI on a standard system is installed without any problem, installed and run successfully with ClassicWB P96.
The problem running it reflected only on Amikit and AFA OS, Today I will make a well test OS4.

Did the test with OS4, to my surprise I was able to start the GUI MrMIDI, but as it happens AFA OS and AmiKit, the player crashes as soon as i press the play button.

Well, finally I managed to start MPlayer AFA OS and AmiKit, the problem as I had expected it was a library not compatible, it was enough to replace the Libs"xpkSHRI.library 2.5" with the oldest "xpkSHRI.library 2.2" and everything worked perfectly, attaching video showing MrPlayer run on AFA OS.
There remains the problem of OS4.1, some Idea?

glad it is working for you. i made another attempt, but still stuck with this muirexx message
"failed to create application".
my workbench installation is far from clean with many patches and stuff in wbstartup folder.
since you found one single lib as the source of your trouble, the same might be on my side.
but i already had the 2.2 version of the compressor library

i'm almost sure, i have all the required files. it is something about MuiRexx itself. perhaps an extension of mui installation - but i'm to lazy to find out.
anyway, gmplay does work from the shell, so i have a bit of it this way.

I attach a floppy containing a structure that allows you to start MrMIDI:

- Add Directory and File in their Directory System
- Do not overwrite anything of my files
- Do not change prefs and user-startup
- If you want you can copy my files on your system (rename or move your files)

thanks alot for your effort - but MuiRexx does not like me
i added a "set echo on" ontop of the MrMidi script - output is seen in the IconX window.
MuiRexx again says: failed to create application
the snoopdos window shows the moment, MuiRexx is working.
i've no clue, but my system is at fault somehow.

dont bother that much, it is not such a big problem.
but it bugs me somehow for sure. thanks for your assistance

ps: your link to gmplay points to GMPlayer, but i found the correct archive with gmplay

I'm sorry, however to MuiRexx is an error that you can fix, the error is caused by another. Have you used the content of my floppy without changing path and preferences?, you copied the contents of MUI and MUI MuiRexx and folders (not necessary to do the installation). In the gameplay folder there are folders with the relevant instruments? , Mr MIDI Directory contains all the necessary files, verify if some files on there is not a flag "No Execute"

i removed my first installed gmplay / muirexx / mrmidi folder and put yours into my dh0/sys partition.
did also copied all the prefs files (env-archive) into it's place.

the error described above, just comes on 2nd and consecutive repetition, to start MrMidi script.
first failure is this right after the MUiRexx line in:
+++ Error 13 in line 36: Host environment not found.

it makes no sense to Main.rexx script (at least to me) and i cannot find the file in question, which produces that error :/

i've now tested GMPlayer and GMP-G, both do work - gmplayer also works with the xpk library - since it did load a xpk packed midi file. so basicaly all is ok, somehow. gmp-g is not that bad, nice "simple" gui and does it's job

btw: a nice Soundfont for eg: Coolsoft VirtualMidiSynth:
Roland SC-55 soundfont.
OmegaGMGS2 custom soundfont

there are several tools,which can extract the samples from such soundfonts - would be a nice addition for gmplay
one of them is Extreme Sample Converter - maybe there are some free tools aswell. dunno atm.


#1) Insurrection theme (version 1) sounds very well with it.
played on the amiga it misses some "soul" - i'm adicted to that track

the troublemaker must be MuiRexx, it failes to start properly i guess.
It does not create the Port MrMIDI. look at image attached.

one thing I dont understand is the rpcontrol task. i'm not sure if this belongs to arexx or it is some extension i once installed. cannot find it's origin :/

#1) now I remember: RexxPLus i installed once. i try to remove that thing.
may happen it does interfer with arexx in a way, MuiRexx dislikes.

#1) it was RPControl belongs to RexxPlus - RPStart is called in user-startup.
it is used by the Lightwave MacroForm.
removing it doesnt change anything with the problem in the image posted.
Arexx still failes to find port MRMIDI
