How to install the free whdload on AmigaOS 4.1
How do I install the free whdload on AmigaOS 4.1? The OS has installed RunInUAE and E-UAE, and in the docs it says that the original whdload binary should not be replaced, doing so will remove the bindings with RunInUAE. I want to use RunInUAE with whdload without the splash screen, but if RunInUAE whdload binary can't be replaced with a newer one and the keyfile is not free, how do I will update it?

Why not just try it as see? I don't know what bindings the docs are talking about, but surely if the executable understands the same configuration file and arguments, it shouldn't make a difference. Rename your old binary though, just in case.

I tried that but it doesn't work, for some reason AmigaOS 4.1 will try to execute the whdload binary directly as an 68k Petunia executable, but it will fail. I tried also to bind the whdload executable with RunInUAE, but then whdload will run "plain" without any slave like if it were executed without arguments.

my guess is WHDload is probably uae or some other executable in the script and the real WHDload is called something else.
I still think on OS 4 classic some kind of reboot script could be used so no need for uae but also no proper exit key. |

Thanks for the replies guys, I found what's wrong with my AmigaOS 4.1 and whdload. The problem is that the whdload installer should be executed inside E-UAE and NOT directly on AmigaOS 4.1 Workbench. The whdload binary on the C: directory of AmigaOS 4.1 is only a wrapper.
Thanks |

Ummm, sorry, I never even thought that's what was going on since the main WHDLoad installation is always within UAE's install. Glad it's sorted anyway.

Don't be sorry Daedalus, I only emphasized with the "not" word in my previous reply that I was severily wrong with my assumptions.
