Absolute Stinkers You Have Discovered Thanks To Emulation
And now, in the style of another thread... I was browsing the games forums last night, and although I wasn't able to help many people with old classics, I got to thinking; What absolutely terrible games did you see reviews of, hear people say "damn that sucks!" about in the playground, or just generally get the impression that you didn't want to spend your hard earned on... but that now you found yourself strangely drawn to trying?
I've only been playing my old Amiga favourites so far, but I did try Dark Castle for the Genesis/Megadrive recently, reputed to be the worst Cart ever. I wasn't disappointed! (Sorry if this has come up before) |

Dark Castle indeed is crap.
I am sure I discovered many bad games due to emulation, but like Burseg said, I just don't remember any |

Chaos engine 2 wasn't that bad unless you wanted to hold it up against Chaos engine 1.
And I'd say pretty much most NES games would be stinkers (at least if you quote SomethingAwful's ROM pit). |

When I had a nes, I had only two carts. One was pirated and had 21 games most of which were bomberman and mappy clones. Games were so bad that I even had nightmares because of them. I do hate nintendo It's a shame that NES clones and carts are still very common in Turkey. There are so many systems I'd like to find hardware and software for and nes is the least platform I'd like to see again yet I encounter it everywhere. And yes, I do have a nes now but I had to get it for it was just ~0.15$ ...at least, I don't have any games!
I'm not _that_ harsh on CE2, it's bad yes, but still better than many |

the NES has some very good games, but I agree it has a huge amount of crap games.
Nothing beats the MSX when it comes to 8-bits gaming. |

I quite liked it, but you really had to get a guy to play against you instead of the computer. When you had that you had a good battle.

How about beyond the ice palace. That was horrible, as well as cliffhanger.

I really liked 'Beyond the Ice Palace' too but didnt want to admit it.
It looks like an ST port but its a good game. I remember killing the Witch and completing it but I think I used the trainer too.. btw.. It was on one of the first Defjam CCS compacks I had. Anyone remember which one? |

Found out this one just the other day. When I use to play Unreal on the Amiga I could never progress past the first horizontal scrolling level, much less off the 1st disk. Now I've played it through I thought it was complete & utterly boring! Okay, the graphics may have been impressive, particulary on the 3D sections, but the gameplay made S.O.T.B. look like an epic RPG in comparison!

I always had fun with both Dark Castle games, plus Beyond the Ice Palace and Better Dead Than Alien (and I own originals of them all!). But the clencher, I suppose, is that I even liked Vampire's Empire (also have original). I'm sure nobody will agree with me on that last one, but it's my guilty pleasure, I reckon.

Agreed. Beyond the ice palace is quite entertaining although it's difficult.
