amiga 1200 external scsi cd drive wont open.

Hi guys.

So i finally got my hands on a 1200 and it came with a external CD drive which plugs into the left side slot of the Amiga. However when I boot the computer, although the power light is on I press the eject button and nothing happens.

I tried reinstalling the drivers in workbench which wouldn't install unless the CD drive was connected so obviously the Amiga knows its there. Also whenever I click on a workbench CD player icon to,for example play music (I thought this may open the drive) it says something like wrong ID?

I'm not sure what any of this means as ive not used a 1200 since I was a kid and never had one with a hdd let alone a CD drive.

Don't know if the CD drives buggered or anything.

Any suggestions?

Cheera

I'm not sure if its a squrrel drive or not tbh. When I first boot the Amiga I can hear the CD drive doing something but its very short and the drive is extremely quiet.

I think the instruction Manuel for the CD drive is called overdrive, although it's limited for help with no troubleshooing in it.

There's nothing on the back of the drive other than auido in out points, a data port and a power socket, no jumpers etc.

The drive make is archos if that helps? I did take pics on my tablet but it won't let me upload

Has it got the small hole for manual eject? Try poking a pin in to release the tray, it may be stuck.

I've not seen a hole tbh. It's annoying me as I don't know if its knackered or if it's something simple lol

My setup is pretty simple.

3.1 rom

Small internal hdd, i will put a fc when it gets delivered.

Trapdoor expansion of 4mb.

Commodore monitor.
