Amiga CDTV video problem
I just purchased an NTSC Amiga CDTV. I can only get black and white video on my NTSC TV when using RF and composite output. Is this normal?? I have no idea if any output has color but these are the only two I can try.
Thank you! |

There can be 2 problems with that:
1. You can have PAL video board. The PAL video board does not have SVIDEO port. 2. You can have NTSC video board with PAL jumpers on. The CDTV has 2 video oscillators, one for PAL and one for NTSC. There are jumpers or solder blobs that need to be set for correct TV format. I had similar problem when I got mine many years ago. My problem was the blob settings were set to PAL, so my picture was always BW. |

Where can I locate the jumpers to check the settings?
Thank you! |

On the motherboard next to the oscillators (2 of them) there are some solder blobs that you need to check. The osc. are close to the front in the corner by the power button.
For NTSC you need JP9 to be ON and JP10 to be OFF For PAL you need JP9 to be OFF and JP10 to be ON Both of them can not be ON at the same time. There is a JP8 solder blob and I'm not sure if it's one or two of them, but I think if it's just one then it should be ON. If it's 2 JP8 blobs one of them should be ON. I'm looking at the schematics, because I dont feel like taking my CDTV apart right now. Last edited by amiman99; 12 October 2015 at 06:19. Reason: added screenshot |

It does - rgb doesn't have a colour encoding.

Attached is a picture of my CDTV.. I guess it is setup for NTSC? I do not get any color with composite and RF though... have not tried SVideo.

Looks like it is setup for NTSC.
Let me think... Maybe you can re-seat the video board, clean the contacts. Last edited by amiman99; 14 October 2015 at 03:46. |
