gotek files transfer

Hi, I know the gotek can read adfs, Its main reason I guess. I was wondering if it would also do file transfer, taking downloaded files from a PC on the mem stick and opening in a workbench window. This would save time as I have been going through winuae adding to my cf card. This would be my main use to be honest. Anyone know?

Not in the easy way you envision. You will have to copy the files inside ADF files on your PC/Mac, then copy the ADFs to the USB stick, then boot the selector, assign your ADF to a number slot, then you can copy the files out in WB.

Vertigo, if possible with your particular Amiga model, a backplate for a CF card at the rear end of the Amiga might be a quicker option. (Copying files to it from UAE on PC + easy access to CF ports on both Amiga and PC works decent enough)

The SELECTOR.ADF does read the directory of the USB but I have no idea how and if it allows file access in that mode.
I would love to have a driver for the gotek and use it as a slow ssd.

OK, thanks for the info. It seems there is no advantage in buying one of these drives as I have all the games on my cf card. I was just trying to remove the winuae step for file transfer. I do have my cf on the rear backplate of my 1200 so its not all doom and gloom. Thanks again.

I recommend a pcmcia card reader and a compatible memory card for your data transfer needs. compactflash.device + fat95 are all you need on the software side.

Sadly this option does not work for me, don't know why, diskpart, format fat etc.. I tried several cards and took expansion memory out and still nothing. The slot does work as I have an amiquest hardrive that came with the Amiga, no longer used as I use cf cards.
