CF Card on Amiga 1200

Hello all

I need some help setting up my CF Card with my Amiga 1200.
It as been a very long time the last time i ever messed about with my Amiga.
My Amiga as a CF Hard Disk that's 4GB with HxC Floppy Emulator inside off it.

The Amiga Workbench that came with the 4GB CF card that i use as my Hard disk as Corrupted and will not boot. So i had Amiga forever 2008 disk that i had for sometime now and copied the Workbench ADF files from it. Made it work with my HxC Floppy Emulator. Right now my 4GB Hard disk is formatted and i like to install Amiga classic onto it.

I do have a PC PCMCIA Transfer card Adapter with a GF card that's 4GB. I have all my files and games. Amiga Classic on the card still that i only seen. The problem i am having is how to do mount CF cards in Workbench? I can boot up Workbench by my HxC Floppy Emulator and mount the CF Adapter to copy the files i need over to the HD.

Sorry for any bad spelling errors.

If somebody can help me out i be very thankful.

Just so you know, most people install the OS (3.9 is on CD) using WinUAE then just pop the ready CF card into the 1200 and Voila..
It can still be somewhat tricky but if you google around youll probably find a couple of how to's.

I have tried the Lite Version 28 from this site http://classicwb.abime.net/index.htm

Now i'm going to try the full Version 28.. See if i can fit it in my HD partition.

But now i have problem formatting my CF card to use. It was working great but now it's not showing up on my Amiga. It's showing up in Windows and tried formatting it to fat 32 but still not showing up in my Amiga. Any ideas on to fix this? The Amiga will hang when i plug the card into the CF slot.

Thanks

So i have formatted it in windows as fat 32 and still will not show up. The Amiga will hang when i plug the card in. Anybody know any way on fixing this or will i need a new card? It will not let me do anything on the Amiga to format it. Love to know if their is any tool that will format it for me.

Thank you

I don't know if you use windows, but if you do, and you can connect the card to your PC, then you can use Diskpart to clean (zero) the card.

Type "Diskpart" in the search window.
In the diskpart window type "List Disk"
find the number of the CF card in the list (I'll assume it's disk 1 it may be another disk.)
Type "select disk 1"
Type "clean"

Then put it in the A1200 and see if it formats O.K

EDIT: Whatever you do, DON'T do a full format on the A1200, Use QUICK format. It extends the life of the card.

It showed up after doing the Diskpart tool on my Amiga but did not format very good and it error out. I think i have gone and killed it by formatting it in Windows, Mac and Amiga it did something to it. Never mind i guess i will get a new one some time. Thank you for the help.

Instead of using the clean command try clean all.
I know it's not recommended for cf cards but I've had to do this in the past..

I've had success reviving CF media by writing a good image to them. I can write one of my images to it for you, see if that brings it back. No charge...
