A500 Memory upgrade now crashing

Hello Guys,

I was gifted an A500 about 3 or 4 years ago, and at the time I purchased myself a memory upgrade and also flashed the system with an updated version of Kickstart which I believe was required to use the additional memory?

After I had done this I found the system was regularly crashing in the middle of games or when using workbench. I then put the system back in it's box, up into the loft it went and hasn't been touched since.

I'm keen to get it back up and running again, but need a complete refresh on how everything should be setup.

What would be my best bet? Remove the memory upgrade, flash back to the original kickstart and try everything over again?

Looking for some advice. Like I say, very rusty and a little blurry on the details on what I did last time around.

Thanks,

Rob

hiya,

possible you have some/one faulty ram chip aboard.
there are some expansion-install disks which came with some kind of ram-test programs. one i found comes with the Hawk expansion. maybe it does work with A500 too.
there are others, but i cannot recall their name.
