Amiga as an 8-bit MIDI Sampler

Hey all, complete newbie here. I've used Amigas for gaming before but I'm just starting to get into the music creation scene.

I'll get straight to the point. Is there a program for the amiga that would allow me to trigger old amiga flavour 8-bit samples Via Midi with 4 voice polyphony?

Searching around I'm getting conflicting answers. I've found MidiIn (http://aminet.net/package/mus/midi/midiIn), but it seems like the polyphony is limited to two samples at once (may be very wrong).

I've read that you can trigger samples via midi using various versions of Octamed, but I think it may be limited to one sample at a time (again, not sure on this).

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks

MidiIn is absolute garbage. Also any other tool I have tried which is similar (like Project MIDI) is problematic. Those two hang up a lot, they aren't stable. It's a shame because the idea is good, just the implementation is absolute junk.

I been through your path before for a long time and kinda gave up. I also had an idea to make my own software, but it's stuck at concept, as I have no coding skills and nobody would help making it.

You might want to use the Technosound Turbo Sampler software. It has a "sampler" mode where you can trigger samples like if it was an MPD. You can't change the pitch or anything, just plain old triggering, but depending on what you want, it might be just what you need.
