Easy DIY serial cable for PC to Amiga transfer

I don't know about you, but I needed to make a null modem cable to transfer files between my PC and my Amiga.

Although I am experienced at soldering, and know how to make my own, just the thought of buying the cable, getting the connectors, and soldering just seemed like too much of a job.

I went to my local Frys to source the parts, (For you that don't have one, Frys is a Southern California computer/audio/appliances/etc big-box store)

After noticing that the only wire that they had that was suitable was in spools, and cost a lot, I started to despair. Then, I had a great idea!

I went over to the area that has CAT6 cable, and noticed cat6 has 8 wires, one wire more than needed. I still groaned though, about stripping and soldering all that wire, and then it hit me....They have DB-9 and DB-25 to RJ45 connectors!

What this means is, all I have to do is connect the loose wires properly into the DB-9 and DB-25 shells, and plug the cat6 cables in to have my serial null-modem cables. NO soldering needed.

Now, here are some places to go for those of you wanting to do this:
25-pin female db-25 to RJ 45 modular adapter:

9-pin female db-9 to RJ 45 modular adapter.

There is Mouser also, I just took the manufacturer and P/N off of the packages.

For those of you in Europe, I'm sure there are local places there also.

Here is instructions on how to wire this up,

WARNING:
Be careful when you build this, done wrong, you could damage the PC or Amiga. Also, make sure you plug the cables in with the computers off.
