Black Amiga PSU
Guys,
I have in my possession a black Amiga PSU. Now originally I thought this was a CD32 PSU, but after meeting Merlin1968 yesterday and he pointed out it was definitely not CD32 I wonder why this was made by Commodore and how common they were/are Here is a picture off the net Naturally mine has a UK 3 prong plug |

See this is why it is confusing because it definitely says Commodore (I know Escom/AT owned commodore, but they re-branded their 1200's)

I do not know for sure I'm afriad but I have owned many 1200's over the years (commodore and escom/AT) and only found the blacks ones in the Amiga technologies packs. It could be coincidence but its just my observations.

When I ordered a PSU from Amiga kit that is one I got: P/N 3910291-22.
3 amps at 5v 500 milliamps at 12v I assume these are for the later Escom Amigas beacause the part numbers for the original 600/1200 PSU are 391029-02/03. Although the output ratings are the same. It can happily handle a 1200+8mb fast+CF card. But I wouldn't trust it with an accelerator. The best stock PSU is the lightweight A500 PSU. 4.5A at 5v. 1A at 12v. That's plenty of power for most people. |

I have both black and beige with the same parameters, the only difference is the colour. Ah yes, and these are the only ones which can power up my A1200s` with BlizzPPC...

Thats what my (boxed) escom A1200 has... and it is branded commodore.
Works fine with my 1200 with an 030, cf card and and external fdd. |

These black PSUs were quite common back in the day. Nothing special. In fact I got one with my Petro Amiga.
You can not mistake them for CD32 PSUs, as CD32 has a round power plug. |
