Manky a500 keyboard backplate...

I have a really grotty amiga 500 keyboard here, the backplate has alot of rust and white power on both sides. I am amazed it still works seeing how bad it was on the inside!

I dont know what to do with this, I was thinking about one of these:

Chrome
Anodizing
Spraying

Thankfully the rust has not completely ruined the surface. Spraying seems the easiest but I do not want to be watching the paint flake off later on! I need something on there that will hold 100%.

Does anybody have any ideas?

I had one like that recently. Membrane all bubbled up from a drink spillage or something. Before fitting a new membrane I scrubbed all the rust and powdery stuff off with steel wool, cleaned again in hot soapy water. Dried then finally wiped with IPA on a cloth so it was clean for spraying.

Since the original plating is destroyed you kinda should do something to seal those spots. I just used some acrylic matt black aerosol I happened to have. If you can get it replated on the cheap that would be best but I'm not too worried about the paint flaking. Just make sure the surface is totally clean before spraying.

Same kinda thing here! The membraine is not too bad but the plate is terrible. I can just attack it with wool and some course paste and then clean it with ipa.
Stupid me, I had loads of a500's and parts years ago and sold them all. I had some mint keyboards
