Alien Breed 3D 1 and 2 WAD files.

There are WAD files in both Alien Breed 3D 1 and 2, but I am unable to open them with DOOM WAD tools.

I presume when Team 17 was creating their tributes to DOOM that they stole the container name WAD, but did not use the same structure?

Is there anyone who might be able to look at the AB3D2 sources on Aminet and maybe come up with a way to open the WAD files and extract their contents?

This would come in VERY handy. Thank you!

Doesn't AB3DII come with a level editor?

There is one, though I don't know if it allows me to extract resources from the wad files. I am working on a Alien Breed Total Conversion for BOOM (Doom) so the idea is to extract the resources from the AB3D as opposed to creating more maps for AB3D.


I'll try to load up the editor tonight and have a look.

Now that I've been through every file in the AB3D II sources, I can see that the WAD files are apparently not containers at all.

I do believe that all the textures and sprites are accounted for and within the sources without the need of special tools to access them and convert them to the needed BMP and WAV formats.

Now to alter DOOM's palette to match that of AB3D...

I'm getting there.
