Hi Chris,

You are welcome to send the first QB disk in your BBS series to me, and I'll try every trick in the book to recover that floppy disk for you.

I have about 30 Amiga floppy drives to run it in (a tremendous advantage) , plus a whole load of disk recovery software with which I have salvaged over 95% of about 250 floppy disks which have been submitted to me for this purpose.

Do you know for sure whether the other BBS disks are okay?

If you are not sure, it might be better if you were to send me the lot.

It sounds to me terribly important that you recover that QB archive. Please let me know if you wish me to help you achieve that goal.

Hi Prwlr. , i
ts not that important to me .it just seemed a good idea at the time...

Also I've tried the problem floppy in a few other drives and got it to read, well actually it partially boots up.. which is a problem in itself as it looks like its being over written by something else. not me !! probably by the kids or grandkids , who have all had sessions on the miggys over the years.

so looks like its a no go .. unless info can be grabbed from the other dozen or so discs ??

many thanks anyways ..

Chris

Hi Chris,
I meant that it's important to everyone else.

Are you sure? It would have to be a pretty deliberate act to overwrite a QB floppy, as they're normally filled to capacity.

I'm not sure that any uncompressed data can be salvaged from a QB archive where one or more disks are corrupted. AFAIK, the archive has to be complete.

(Edit: No, if disks are missing (not sure about corrupted disks) then a partial restoration of the archive is possible provided the first disk is intact.
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=39061 )

It's a lot of data to lose, which is why I offered to try salvaging that first floppy and any others which might be corrupt.

But if you're convinced that in the case of the first disk it's not possible, that's most unfortunate.

ceedy me thinks prowler wants something to do and use his magic powers to rearrange those bits into the right place and do what other mystical stuff he dose with all those floppy drives he has

What you got to lose ?? price of postage for may be a chance of getting it all back, got to be worth a go

he is also very trust worthy and has had a few successes, in fact I will almost go to say he is our EAB floppy lazerath type person thats capable or reserecting dead or tired floppys.
