A500, 512k or 1MB? :/
I'm quite confused, which isn't rare for me, however i'll explain the situation
Got an old A500(one of the early models, complete with Guru Meditation ![]() However i'm not sure how much RAM is on it. in the trapdoor there are 2 modules, the model numbers are 4256. I'm assuming that means the machine has 512k which is what i'd expect. However, it was sold with a selection of games all of which require 1MB of RAM(Settlers, Civ, The Immortal etc) and they all run fine. So does the A500 have additional RAM to the trapdoor RAM? Sorry to sound dumb, but i've been out the loop for sometime about the fast RAM and chip RAM so i'm somewhat confused |

So in all 1MB? That explains a lot. Thanks for clearing that up for me and anyone else who comes across this thread |

You can also type avail in CLI or Shell to find out the amount of memory, or look at the Workbench menu bar. Some 512k expansions had switches on them to not add their memory.
