Irfan view

Ok youse. Akira and I have been talking efficiency. Well, Hre is the proggy I use for imaging related situations. I am sure most of youse have tried it...look..under 500 kb unzipped and does allof the important basic imaging functions the Pee Cee bloatware like Adobe Photosuck, which is a memory hog as well, does. Its in da zone, my first upload since early this year. I would like to take credit for creating this on Irfan View, but, alas.......

Adobe Photoshop is not bloatware but very memory hungry. It's originally a mac application, not a pc one. For basic functions, you don't need photoshop, but there are more relevant alternatives than irfanview , like paint shop pro (which I hate, but that's because I'm not looking for basic functions)

I know it started on the Mac And its much better on the Mac, as is any imaging program.
Anyway, I had recieved a pm pointing out that it can open Amiga .iff files, which some proggies ignore (Not Photoshpop, though).
Here is proof of it opening a map of Faery Tale Adventure, an Amiga .iff file, Bursie, your fave game!

Hmm, bad news for you Fred, photoshop 7 no longer detects .iff files.

Another alternative to irfan is, acdsee but only the versions below 3.0!! Newer versions are bloated badly.

What does irfan mean anyway? Maybe the guy's name! It's a Turkish name you know.

Just learned that "Irfan Skiljan" is the creator of the name. Credit goes to Amigaboy

My God! You're right! No problem though, you can simply copy the Amiga IFF.8bi plug-in to your PS7 installation - "<drive>:\<path>\Photoshop 7.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats\".

Ahh, but I open my IFFs with Deluxe Paint IV AGA

Personally, I use Macromedia Fireworks for photo edition (and super-efficient, small and nice-looking web exporting). I hate Photoshop really.

Then again, I think I'm Macromedia fanboy

Yer right about ACDSEE Burseg. I kept Version 2.50 after seeing teh newer ones at work. Yeeeech!

Actsee is gay. Period. And, who ate Adobe had the rocks in his head NOT to include support for .iff files? Knowing to this day many images are still produced using trusty Amigas, and many great images of the past were made on Amigas?? What blockhead??

I prefer Macromedia Fireworks, I think it's great

If I want to open .IFF files I'll do it on my real Amiga

Nobody uses Photogenics (on the PC and Amiga)? I could not live without ACDSee, personally. I use ACDSee 32 v2.4 and despise the 3.x versions of it...not even the same program, IMHO. I heard (from a beta tester) that the authors are returning to the 2.x style in the near future. It's great for fast pic conversions, system navigation, image flipping, full shell usage, copy/move, etc. and most everything else. A poor-man's Directory Opus, but with instant image viewing and previewing, which Opus doesn't offer. A combination of the two programs would be perfect (in other words, if ACDSee had dual windows, it would be the shit!) I use it at work on a variety of machines and Windows versions and it has a tendency to just crash for no reason no matter where it's run, though.

Photoshop has a steep learning curve, but once over that hump, it's indispensable. Haven't tried Fireworks, but since I so abhor Flash and Shock, I'd probably hate it...

That's my mate, Ian. Just like me

DPIV for IFF, Fireworks the rest

Twist: Flash is my best friend . I can understand your hate of it though, since most people like to create bloatnetware with it.

Here's another Irfie user, mate! I downloaded my first version 2 years ago or something like that, and I've been using it on a daily basis since then. Great prog.

Ayy, good to have you aboard, Walker. Although, you have been using it far longer than I have.
Dangling participles are cool. Or whatever that is.
