whdload dos disks

Hey guys

I think I understand that a NDOS disk you need to be able to look at the bootblock to see whats being loaded. Way over my head.

What about PD games that run from the workbench, so all you need to do is copy the files to the HD to run. Most of these dont have a quit back to workbench which is annoying as hell. Seeing as these are just files and you know what starts each game is it easy to make these into whdload games with a quitkey? Or is it just as advanced as a NDOS game? If it is easy with these files whats the best way about making a whdload just so they can be quit back to the WB?

Thanks for any help

That's correct.

If the game runs fine and there is nothing to patch a WHDLoad slave can be made very quickly. Oh, and because a game is NDOS doesn't necessarily mean it is harder to patch, it always depends on the game. An NDOS game can be easy to patch while a normal DOS file game can be a nightmare to patch.

Thanks very much for all that info. I have a couple here that I wanted to play around with one is Banana Islands and the other is Trick or Treat. Both need no patching at all for AGA or anything else, both seem to run just fine from HD. Both have a very limited amount of files. But the only info I can find about making a slave is looking at bootblocks. Is there any other info about making a slave for what I wanted to try?

Thanks again

Well, in that case I think you should try the Workbench 1.3 slave. Use it to install Workbench and then just copy the games you want to play to the installation directory. That should do the trick I hope.

So, to recap: 100% Perfect, Genius, Realist and Illusionist

If someone has the temerity to state 'full of shit', I might just have to embrace that one as well!
