Any way to "hack" a Sensible Soccer demo?
Hey all, not sure if this is the correct place to post, but I was curious if it would be possible to "hack" a particular demo so that it didn't automatically restart. The demo in question is the one for Snesible Soccer, from this disk:
Amiga Power - Issue 13 - Sensible Software Disk Special (1992-05)(Future Publishing)(UK)[b].adf The cool thing about the demo is there's a Single Player option, allowing you to have a kick around with just one team on the field, which would be great for practising! There's also a Two Player mode. The issue is, whenever you score a goal in either version, the demo resets, which is okay, but it goes through showing a screen of info first about Sensible Soccer features. I thought it'd be cool if it instaed it either just carried on, or reset directly to the kick-off again... Also, in the Single Player mode, you are always facing down the pitch, would be cool if you could also practice facing up the pitch... I'll put the disk image in The Zone anyway, just in case someone's up to a "challenge" |

Hi s2325,
I'm assuming the [b] means it's flagged as a bad dump for some reason, although the Sensible Soccer demo seems to play fine. I can't find any other version, unless someone else out there has an original copy of the disk: Amiga Power - Issue 13 - Sensible Software Disk Special If someone has this, maybe they could make an image and put it in the Zone? |

It should be possible using a realtime debugger/memory watcher, checking if it's as simple as removing a subroutine call or an address jump. They might've made it more difficult on purpose, but I'm not sure.
I think StingRay is your guy for this piece of work. *nudges StingRay on IRC * |

Thanks for the reply 8bitbubsy,
I'll have to see if I can sweet-talk StingRay into sparing some of his valuable time to have a look! |

No doubt it's flagged [b] on the basis that it isn't an extended ADF, which I think is the format needed to make the Wizkid demo on the same disk work. Still waiting for someone to do a perfect dump of it to this day.

I'd forgotten I started this thread! Would be great if someone could have a look at this one day... |
