F17 Challenge (CD32) WinUAE problem

I have problem with this title (from "Project-X & F17 Challenge" compilation) The CD boot, I can select games and see instructions. Project-X is working good, but F17 Challenge hangs after intro. Tested with two .iso versions and with both F17 not working.

Seems to be another crappy CD32 "port". Only works if CD is inserted after boot screen appears.. (Last Ninja 3 is another one)

"Project-X & F17 Challenge v2.0 (1993)(Team 17)[!][compilation][CDD3499]" real CD32 confirmed.

(note that there is one CD32 pad emulation issue that makes "screen mode" screen to exit instantly, it detects stuck fire button, not sure if it affects main game, didn't bother to check because I already fixed it.. winuae.zip updated)

Of course You're right F17 (and Last Ninja 3) works only when CD is inserted after boot screen appears. But if there is any way to fix this problem in WinUAE (maybe CD32 "full" boot and then boot the game?)?

I assume you mean by using configuration file instead of manually inserting the CD using GUI? No, at least not yet but I guess some kind of delayed insert (both disks and CDs) option is needed..

On the "New Features" of WinUAE version 2.3.0 it is written:
- Support for configuration file delayed CD image insert, for example CD32 games
F17 Challenge and Last Ninja crash if booted before CD32 boot screen appears...

I don't quite understand what "Support for configuration file delayed CD image insert" means. Is there a way now to play those games directly without having to insert the iso after the boot sequence? Is there a new switch to boot them by command line?
I see that the probem remains in the actual version 2.3.2 for those games.
thanks

- added configuration file delayed cd insert, add "delay" to end of path ("cdimage0=<path>,delay"), waits 3 seconds before inserting the cd, workaround for stupid CD32 games that only work if CD is inserted after boot screen (F17 Challenge and Last Ninja 3, maybe others)

There is no GUI option for delayed insert, you need to "insert" the CD after title screen appears, just like on real CD32.

Toni,

I'm having trouble getting this new delay option to work, not sure if it's because I have blank spaces on my path and so I need to put the path between double quotes or I'm simply not doing it right.

Here's the command line I'm using:
winuae.exe -f "K:\Emulators\Commodore Amiga CD32\WinUAE\Configurations\host\cd32host.uae" -s quickstart=cd32,0 -s use_gui=no -s gfx_fullscreen_amiga=true -cdimage="K:\Games\Commodore Amiga CD32\Project-X & F17 Challenge (Europe)\Project-X & F17 Challenge (Europe).cue,delay" -portable

I tried to move the ,delay to after the double quotes, but still can't get the game to boot. Maybe I'm doing something wrong here?

It is a "feature" (or more like a bug..)

Delayed insert only works if it is used as a config file entry command line parameter:

-s cdimage0="path",delay

"shortcut" command line parameter -cdimage="path" does not accept "delay".

Thanks Toni, my mistake I tried the cdimage0 before, but forgot to add the -s switch. Working fine now. Once again you save the day
