Wanted: File Launcher that can handle thousands of entries

I recently began working an a very ambitious project of mine: Putting *EVERY* game of killergorilla's WHDLoad packs in a single WinUAE configuration in my laptop. That way I could have almost every single Amiga game with me ready to run whenever I want it. A briefcase with that laptop and a USB joystick would be a dream portable Amiga. I call it "Gorilla in a Box".

The only problem is, I don't want to have to go through hundreds of directories to find the game I want to play. So I used what I have in my real Amiga, the Taskbar to add proper shortcuts:

It was all going great until the Preferences file got too big (more than 1700 lines) and the program simply stopped accepting any more entries.

Can anyone recommend a good file launcher that can handle thousands of entries? It doesn't have to be anything fancy such as a frontend with screenshots, in fact the simpler the better. As long as I can assign a few words to a list to point to a file, I'll be happy.

Not really. I'd have to manually create an executable shortcut-file for every single game, it would take me ages.

Wow, this one is good, I didn't know about it. Still not 100% what I want but it's a good alternative and besides, it's a useful button to have in DOpus. Thank you.

Boo Boo, I don't see these programs in Aminet unless I'm searching wrong?

AGS 1.01 in the Zone its in HDF - You just edit/add .start files to the AGS folder - you dont need to add the .txt or .iff files if you dont want

AMS - Will probably be on the EAB file server called something like A1200 Games Compilation Tool Kit.

I just noticed that AGS doesnt work without lowlevel.library - Thats not included with WB3.0 -
So I re-upload with the lowlevel.library.

That does sound exactly like what I am looking for, and made by a Greek no less. But I can't get it to work. According to the guide, I need guifx.mcc and Texteditor.mcc. I downloaded some files I found in Aminet that included them (http://aminet.net/package/dev/mui/MCC_Guigfx and http://aminet.net/package/dev/mui/MCC_TextEditor-15.33) and as I didn't know what to do with them I put them in C. But if I try to run the program, I still get the error message that some mcc files are missing.

You could try the "NOGUIGFX" tooltype. Had some problems with Igame in a ClassicWB setup too.

edit:

Quote:
guigfx.library
render.library
copy them into LIBS

Quote:
Guifx.mcc
Texteditor.mcc
is MUI stuff, right? Mui/Libs/mui: or is it enough to have them in the Igame folder?

I tried them in both, it still won't work. Maybe I have the wrong versions?

EDIT: I tried NOGUIGFX and it works perfectly! Thank you!
