3-Pin Ceramic Resonator Question.

Hello all, another one of those 'I don't really know what I'm doing but I'm trying' questions...

I've tried googling this but I must be asking the wrong question.

I've been making a few (small) projects often including your boggo CRO's, eg:

I guess I must have some understanding as the circuits actually work!

I've noticed these:

3-Pin Ceramic Resonator

Cheaper and much smaller - I like small, makes finding quiet corners for my mods easier. Obviously cheap is good too...

I keep reading that resonators (at least the ones containing caps) can be used in place of CRO's if you're not too fussed about spot-on accuracy but what are the practicable details?

What must one do to take a circuit designed for a CRO (what I know) and mod it to accept an equivalent resonator..?

-CRO: +5v, GND, Out, NC
-Resonator GND, other two pins for the old 'oscillating'
Obviously not a direct swap...

Thanks again.

The tinned oscillator have a F series TTL inside it to filter the noise from the ordinary crystal, that's why they are only 5V-tolerant.

Search for pages where people show how to make an oscillator from a common one.
