Cyberstorm MkIII overheating logic chip

Hi, this is my 1st post here, so i do my introduction to you in the same time

i'm a 26 years old boy, living in france, and in the amiga seriously since 2007 (yeahh i'm a little newbie )

i don't speak english perfectly, so, sorry in advance for my possible mistake, i try to do the best i can.

i own some amiga's models, 1000,500, 1200, 3000 (my looooove)

i have a cs MkIII in my 3000, i modded it by myself for overclocking, add a socket glued on the corner of the card for the 3rd oscillator, i can still use dimm ram in all bank
and, of course, replaced the XC 060 by a MC rev6

actually, i run with a 66 mhz oscillator, a little but sure overclock !

but my card seems to have a problem with the 4 big logic chip (cypress, lattice), they run extremly hot, specially the two on the right of the card (i mesured it at 87,7°C today... and my thermometer is not made for this kind of use, it's possible they run a bit more hot than this...) and today the machine become unstable after 5-6 min of use, i switch off, let cooling, and restart and i'ts ok again for a little time.

they always run hot, already before the overclock. and i tried again with a 50 mhz oscillator, they run very hot too, so it's really not the overclocking the cause.

i contacted Mr JJB for a repair, but he told me it's normal, it's a known problem of this card. and the only solution was to cooled it.

but now i really don't think it's so normal... i think i'ts a cause of a failure of something, but what...

i checked the voltage, 3,32 V and 5,02 V, it's ok...

someone else who have the same card can tell me if they run hot too ? or if my card is really faulty ?

many thanks

Put some low profile heatsinks over the chips and add a fan to help cooling they.

Problem solved.

I confirm that it's normal on CS MKIII and CSPPC (I have 3 of them). Adding small heatsink on top of the chip will help to cool them down.

ok, thank you

cosmicfrog : yes, i doubt for a time... 87,7 °C for a little chip like this, you can think it's not normal... and in fact, it's not normal at all.
