Ah, the classic 'insert disk only to eject it with mysterious missing shutter' incident. That was a pain.
Also fell foul of getting the disk jammed in a label-related accident. Several times. |

This thread could be SERIOUSLY misconstrued
"Floppy went hard".... might be to do with the fact I am watching P0rn.... but yes I have had "the shutter broke inside" issue.... particularly nasty on a mac with no physical eject button (and no the key combo didnt work either) so I'll vote on that |

Cheap disks killed my Amiga! comes closest. But in my case, it was old disks, rather than cheap disks, which killed my Amiga 500 floppy drive.
The heads were so crudded up that it wouldn't read anything else until I'd stripped it down and cleaned them with liberal quantities of isopropyl alcohol applied with cotton buds. |

Ah, the joys of "over-labelled" disks getting stuck! Any more than two disk labels stuck over the top of each other on the same disk was asking for trouble!

This reminds me to a friend in the old days
He alert me that he can't eject the disc (He was one of the guys buying a computer just to have one without ever doing something usefull) You guess what, he pulled a disk into drive, but there was a disk allready inserted I don't know how that could be (but i never tried for myself) The second inserted disk could be removed, the first one not I tried with screwdriver but the first disk won't come out. Told him:go buy a new drive NB:Both disks were broken |

"Other":
After some loading, the game told me to insert disk two in the internal drive. It took some effort, but I got it in there. Now that I look back on it, I should probably have ejected the disk that was in the drive first. Unfortunately they were stuck so tight in there that I had to replace the drive. (A classic from some PC support company :P) Edit: Ähem. Should have read the posts first I think... |

I've had a shutter breaking off inside and the eject button breaking off when I opened the Amiga. The former I fixed by sheer chance (I shook it hard and it fell out, spring and all). The eject button I fixed with sellotape (and it still works!)

For about a year I had to have the top cover off my Amiga A500 because whenever I put a disc in I used to have to give the round disc (magnet?)
on the bottom of the floppy drive a quick spin to get it started (akin to starting a car with a crank handle I suppose) |

I remember Golden Axe becoming stuck in good old DF0 because the label had partially peeled off, inverted, and become stuck to my Miggy's innards.
Because I couldn't pluck the disk out with my fingers, since it was so firmly entrenched, I had to use a pair of tongs from the kitchen to reach into the slot and yank it out. |

I cleaned my amiga thoroughly ie opened everything up and got rid of all the gunk but i musnt have put it back together properly The floppy drive works fine but to use it i have to lift up the cover of my amiga or the disk wont go in ie the top half of the amiga case |

My A600 gained a problem where the eject button didn't eject the disk all the way. Most disks, I had to use a knife to lever out the disk.
You can tell my most favourite games by the scratches on the disk label where I had to lever the disk out. |

So even if the drive was out of the machine you still couldn't push the button all the way down? I get this problem but only because the drive moves around inside the machine.

I voted other..
Most of the time from what I can remember it was when there was a label too many making too thick to eject properly. |
