Question Xenon 2 CD32 Problem on WinUAE

Ok I have tried this on the latest Beta and also on Vers 1.6.1 & Vers 1.4.6

I have the correct cd32 kick roms and mounted the bin/cue file in alchahol and successfully got Xenon 2 to run on WinUAE, I was well happy about this until I went to actually play the game.
So im shooting away then soon as I go to collect up my rewards in the game, soon as I touch one ball, the game resets back to the title screen, wtf???
Anyone else had this problem with this game? Am I missing something in winuae, maybe not enough memory or something?
I set the memory as 2MB chip memory and nothing else, do I need fast/slow/Z3 fast? Which CPU setting for CD32? Or have I just got a duff bin/cue version ??? Any help appreciated on this

Why don't you try the CDTV Emulation?

Never thought of that I'll give that a go, do you need special cdtv kick roms?

Also isnt the cd version of Xenon 2 a CD32 game, I didnt think it was a CDTV game?

Yes, this one.

Xenon 2 is a CDTV game, should be compatible with the CD32 though. Haven't tested the game in WinUAE since ages.

Seems that Extended rom wont run alongside the CD32 Main Kick rom, should I use a normal Kick 3.1 rom with it?

If you don't even have correct roms, you are most likely booting it as a "read-only harddrive". Use quickstart, do not put anything in harddrives, do not enable uaescsi (if you followed some bad guides..)

No Kick 1.3 and the extended rom. Use the Quickstart mode.

OK I got it working! Turns out to play a game on CDTV Quickstart, you still have to add the image by going to Hardrive and select 'Add Dir or Archive' then select the .cue file, then Start.
CDTV is a lot slower than CD32 I noticed but it works fine!
Now I'm gonna download a proper CD32 game and test that on the CD32 config just to make sure that still will work properly, keep ya posted and thanks for your help guys

No no no. This is that "read-only harddrive" mode which means you won't get CD audio and many games stop working.

Make sure SPTI is selected in misc panel. (most common problem)

Still not working: enable logging (misc panel) and attach winuaelog.txt

Cant even get the bios to boot properly that way, also I cant see anywhere to load the cue file as the quick start options to load a file are greyed out.
Btw I had music the way I booted it before ..

Just mount it with Daemon Tools. That should work. Maybe you want to mount it in the first virtual drive slot.

The game has indeed some troubles, not the first time. I get the same reboot in CD32 emulation, latest Beta. CDTV emulation doesn't work after the logo.

I use alcohol to mount my images, works fine with CD32 emulation, the only way I got it to work on cdtv was the way I mentioned earlier, but thats not correct though is it

Use a CD32 Quickstart config, then disable JIT and enable 24-Bit Addressing. This works somehow.

Awesome! Nice one Retro-Nerd, finally solved!

So does this mean any CDTV games will work on this config too?

No, not really. Wait for Toni's reply. Maybe he can fix it.

I finally understand what Toni was getting at now, you mount the image with demon tools or with alcohol (what I use) then you just load quick start cdtv (obviously with the right kick files) and it will boot, the main thing I wasnt doing was being patient! cdtv mode takes a little longer to boot but it does work

The whole reason I was getting problems playing in game originally was because of the way I was setting things up which now I understand properly what Toni was trying to explain to me!

Thankyou everyone
