Amiga 600 problem with external disk drives

Hi Folks

I have a pretty simple problem on my to A600s. (One is Rev 1.5, the other is Rev 2.0D)

Somehow external drives don't work, IF they get detected, they read garbage.

The very same drives work fine on my A500 though.

Is that a common problem?

I've not had any issues like that before.... check the connectors on your A600 and make sure everything is in order (no broken pins, dirt or corrosion etc...) If the drives work on your A500 then it's clear the A600 is at fault

Unless of course the external drives are pre-A600 and have compatibilty issues? I am sure this is very unlikely though? (someone will hopefully corect me if i'm wrong

)

I was using some old externals on an A600 (testing something) and all externals were detected and it booted from them fine (didnt have df0 connected). So I would say there are no compatability issues with pre A600 external drives.

Nope, there are the "old" chinon drives in the A600.
I'd go for a board defect, but it happens on both board.
Maybe both boards are fried.

Do you use the same Power Supply brick with the A500 and A600? Surely this is a power-related problem.

And an A500 supply is more than adequate for an A600.
