LCD TV/Monitor problem
I got a second hand 19" LCD TV/Monitor for my amiga(s) today. I tested it's inputs on my DVD player (composite and S-Video), and RF in (aerial), and it worked fine. Then when I went and plugged in one of my Amigas via composite in (A600 or A1200), the screen flashes, kind of turning off and on, with the image visible for a less than a second. If I go into workbench and select an interlaced display, it works, the picture obviously looks crap though due to flickering. Plus, this is no use for playing games.
Has anyone else had this problem, or a similar one with LCD TV's? Does anyone know what is going on? Would I have the same problem, no matter what LCD TV I used? The one I have is some cheap brand I've never heard of (Bexa). I'm not too happy, as I just wasted my money on something I can't use |

Hi amigamaniac,
Does the TV/Monitor have a SCART input? If so, your best bet is to try using the RGB output from the Amiga's monitor socket and wiring this up to the monitor's SCART input. There has been a lot of discussion on this subject. Search the threads for RGB SCART. |

Probably not without a scan doubler I'm afraid, but as far as I know, it will not hurt anything if you try and see if any signal appears or not. The reason I bet that the composite input jack works with interlaced mode activated, is most likely the sync single being doubled in this display mode. |

Unless it is second hand, return it for a refund. |

Thanks for the input everyone
I also tried my GameCube on it, which worked fine. I'm also using it right now, connected to my laptop as I type this. 19" is the biggest monitor I have ever had - it's huge (well, it is to me!). I did want an LCD monitor for my desktop, as I find the 17" CRT gives me sore eyes after a while, especially if I am reading text for any length of time. My eyes are fine on LCD's There was also some "stuck" pixels on the screen, which made me even more mad, as the seller said all was ok with the display. I suppose it could have happened in the post, the seller has 100% feedback. Anyhow, it looked like a small green dot. I googled on how to fix such a thing, and managed to get rid of it! So I'm a lot happier with my purchase now Since I am dirt poor, I'll have to put off getting another LCD TV for quite some time |

A PAL Gamecube uses a 576i interlaced output.
PAL consoles & computers pre-Dreamcast (including Amiga Low Res) use 288p which some low cost LCDTV's don't seem to like. Send it back, get a refund, buy a different one. Last edited by alexh; 22 June 2009 at 19:30. |

I recommend the Fujilink A1901 and A1901W (wide screen, 19"). Both sync down to Amiga PAL/NTSC all resolutions via VGA connector, yay!
Pretty sure it is an "el-cheapo" LCD, and works! |

I think Fujilink is now a dead company. Also they do not seem to have sold under this brand / numbering scheme outside Brazil.

Not Brazil, they sell most of their products in Paraguay, delivered from China. Paraguay is a sort of big mall for electronics (via contraband) here in Banana Land.
Anyway, Alexh is right. Company appears to be dead. |
