Spectrum +2
Hello there my fellow forum chummies,
I thought I would start a little thread to give you something to peruse and ponder inbetween the AndreasM bashing (*have at it chaps*). Anyway as this this is not strictly Amiga, I have placed it here, After the Byteback convention i had extra retr0-urges and since my friend yorkie brought over his Spectrum +2 I must have one..... but wait.... i want to do more than just play games.... I want to add harddisks and cdroms etc, I want to add a wave table card and anything else I can imagine! So what I am after? well resources for one, especially the pinout for the spectrum +2 edge connector would be a great start. A decent Spectrum forum, and links to much specky hackery! dont worry friends, I am not leaving amiga.... I could never do that, its just I want to terrorise some Spectrum action after that is C64 time baby! I have DTV stick ready to go |

Have you tried the World of Spectrum forums? They seem to have a hardware sub-forum (with the odd familiar name or two)

Anemos, you are Spectrum God!
It wouldnt surprised if you tell us you posted these pics from your spectrum connected to net Do you know some czech guys signed the petition for starting manufacturing speccy again and have sent it to Amstrad? No joking. I hope this thread wont turn into another speccy vs anything war. EDIT - I remember my classmate had same model, bought in Germany (West) with 7 MCs (mostly Mastertronic games). |

The best spectrum tool I ever found is called OTLA and it is an algorithmic processor for the WAV files of spectrum (and other computer) tapes.
http://code.google.com/p/otla/ Using OTLA you can convert WAV (or TAP) files into very very small MP3 files (100KB average) which have been accelerated to many many times that of the original recording. These can be put on a very cheap 128MByte MP3 player (£5 from Tesco) and load games in only a few seconds. [ Show youtube player ] P.S. Why get a +2 when you can get a +3? |

It WAS called k7zx but the latest versions for multi-platforms are now called OTLA.
But free. Yes? It has worked with everything I have tried but you have to tweak the settings for games with turboloaders as described in the documentation. |

i'm very jealous of Anemos' speccy!
to Zetr0 - all the best advise (divIDE, world of speccy) has already been given, although you may want to look into +3e roms too. Are we looking at a grey +2 or a black +2A Zetr0? |

@Hungry Horace
not to fussed to be fair, the +2 (grey) can have composite (CVBS) directly outed from the board, theres a bit more hackery needed for the +2A @TC Thanks for the good wishes, it seems that Spectrums have become a bit of a hot property of late LOL @Anemos thats an awesome spectrum... I am still in awe of it. |

I would love to get hold of the Divide adapter.
Does anyone have any idea where you can get them? All the places I've checked don't have them. M. |
