not seeing files in gui but can in CLI
I downloaded some of the whdload games that are already setup. They come in giant zip files. I am using winuae at the moment to transfer everything onto a compact flash card that will go in a real amiga 1200 once I have finished.
I create a hard drive with the option in winuae of using a directory on the pc. The directory I choose is of one of the zip files that has been decompressed with each game into its own directory. When I boot winuae I can't see anything in the gui when i open the drive but going into the shell i can see all the directories of the games and access the files. If I use the shell and type copy ad0: to game1: all It copies them all over but again in the gui I cannot see anything in the drive game1 but can in the shell with dir. If I copy them one by one like copy Qix game1: all Then I can see them in the GUI. What am I doing wrong exactly? |

I would say that the .info files are missing when you use the first method. Can you check if the .info files are present in the game: directory when you do it with the first method?

To see files in Workbench (GUI as you said) file needs to have it's icon - in workbench it is name of file/directory + .info extension. Or you can see all files using menu function show all files - dunno if I remember it correctly.

Hi,
Ahh yes I should get into the idea of calling it workbench not GUI ![]() I have also just learned that we need to have .info files to see the icons which explains things and the way I was copying. The directory structure on adf0 was something like this adf0: qix -> qix (and in this second deep directory of the same name was the .info file) So when I copied with the first method it copied the top directory that had no .info. Using the second method when I specified the name it must have been copying out the second level along with the .info? Anyway I'm sorted now, just removed the top directories off everything ![]() thanks for your help! |
