Big grin Quality Products... The housewife's choice.

It's been a while since I posted any p0rn on the EAB, so here goes:

Imagine the situation, you've got some kind of add-on for your retro-box hanging out the back...
...PCB exposed - yummy!
But wait! What if you drop something on it? You'll release the magic smoke, and as we all know there's a special chemical in magic smoke that induces much swearing in the person who smells it...
...What to do..?

Make your own encolsure. Here's one I did earlier:

As you can clearly read this is indeed a 'QUALITY PRODUCT' and it's good to know
my card is not only better protected, but 'MICROWAVE OVEN SAFE' too!

If any fellow EAB members are worried about their exposed PCBs I will be
taking orders for the maunufacture of their very-own bespoke enclosures.
It's a service...

BTW:
Don't you find p0rn more alluring when it's semi-exposed rather than full
on?
Leaves something to the sweaty imagination...

That's a clever solution. Not only does it protect the PCB from environmental elements, it also keeps it fresh!

I have a friend that makes custom cases out of Lego. It seems odd but like your solution, it works very well.

That looks a lot like a VME ethernet card for an Atari MegaSTe / Atari TT?

Take care... plastic is an insulator and so can build up a static charge which can kill old electronics!!

Hi Alexh,
Point taken - thanks for the advice. I'll add some grounding to the 'design' - now where did that pin-out go..?

Good guess; as it happens it's an Archimedes card that's currently hanging out the back of my A3000 - sadly one upgrade too many & the PSU keeps overloading...
...still the mobo only has two connectors (0v & +5v) with a PSU rated @ 22w, so I feel another upgrade coming on...
...I think I'll investigate my pile of old power bricks.

I really must stop this faffing-about with 'alien hardware' & get back to the miggy stuff.
