Sudden A2000 PSU failure?

What would make a working A2000 PSU suddenly die?

I had reseated the chips in my motherboard (it wouldn't boot, most likely because of a leaking battery) just in case, powered things up, and it still didn't boot. So I sighed, took out the mobo, put in a new mobo I had bought on eBay, and attempted to power up.

Nothing.

Fan wouldn't even turn.

So I unplugged it from the mobo and tried turning it off and on. All I got out of it each time I switched it on was a fraction-of-a-second chirp. Looking more closely, it appeared the chirp was from the PSU fan turning about a degree and then stopping. I turned the PSU off and tried turning the fan with my finger and had no problem doing so.

What happened??

My A2000 did the same. Was using it perfectly one evening and the next day it was dead. I hacked up an ATX supply to fit inside the A2000 PSU case (to keep the original shape and switch), fitted a 'silent' fan and haven't looked back

Alternatively if you were feeling adventurous you could check the fuse inside the PSU.

I'd check it on the old motherboard first just to make sure your new motherboard isn't fried.
