Amiga Programming

What does everyone use for Amiga programming? I have previously programmed in C, C++, x86 Assembly (Yes, I know that 68000 assembly is different, but probably quite learnable), VB, BASIC, PASCAL, and scripting languages like php.

I know that SAS/C was recently posted to the zone, but I unfortunately missed it.

Can someone please put versions of C, C++, PASCAL, and assemblers in the zone that they think are the best and fit within the allowed postings for EAB?

Also, are SAS/C and HiSoft C++ ANSI-C or K&R C?

And my last question -- are any of these compilers usable on an unexpanded A500 w/ no HD? (I currently have a RAM expansion and an A600 on the way from EBay, and I'm hoping to get an A1200 shortly.)

Thanks for the help, in advance.

I think the compilers that you mension does not run in any amiga without HD but I zoned DiceC that is an excelente C compiler and light enought to run without HD. If you want to know more about this compiler there are some pages on Amiga User International and Amiga Shopper mags that you find on AMR site

I believe that Maxon C++ will run on an unexpanded A500. I think I remember it having an option to do a 2 disk install.

I'll check.

AlfaRomeo and Andec,

Thank you for the compilers. I have downloaded them and will be taking a look at them when I get a chance. My 600 should be here tomorrow, so maybe I won't need small compilers after all, but I kind of like my A500, and definitely do not want to leave it behind. I may just use it as a development machine as it represents a lowest denominator.
