Fantasy Amiga x86

Hello there my friends,

After a conversation on the these fair boards last year I was inspired by an idea that was almost mind blowing obvious, in fact I still cannot find this done today.

It is at this point would at this point like to blame Charlie for everything

So guys / girls and Ironclaw...

Imagine if you will An Amiga, that is 2.4 Ghz of processing power, Full Multi-Layer Optical RW drive, 1GB of Ram, 32MB 3D Savage SVGA GFX and over 100GB of Hard disk space.

Imagine this Super Amiga with USB, 10/100 Ethernet and over 5 operating systems to choose from; Amithalon, Linux, DOS, Win98 and Win XP, to at startup.

Sounds like an Amiga I would love to have, but more so, should over been built YEARS ago. so this is my poke in the eye at 'those' powers that be, although I have just finished uploading the FAx86 Project, alas I have had to shelf this project for 6 months, with review.

My hope is that you enjoy the link and feeds your imagination as it has mine

this has been up on the Old Skool Forums for about at week, its now time to bring on in here for those keeping it OLD SKOOL!

Z.

I would like to dedicate this build to the EAB, I hope to complete this soon

@viddi

thanks for your support

It all comes down to Power i am afraid to say.

the project requires a small form factor PSU that can deliver 13amps on the +5v alas the best thats available today is only 10amps... its just not enough... but my hope is that in 6 months a solution will present itself, either a less greedy SBC or more powerful PSU

That's ok - my wife does anyway!

Is this just an attempt to get a PC to fit inside an Amiga case?
