Is this a 24-bit or a 16-bit scandoubler/flickerfixer?
Is it the version which clips over the Alice chip or the version which has a connector to the external 23-pin video out? FYI the data on the link above is incorrect. http://amigahardware.mariomisic.de/c...cgi?HARDID=361 Last edited by alexh; 21 October 2007 at 13:51. |

as far as i know the only 24 bit sd/ff is the picasso iv (meaning it displays aga colours correctly). the dce flicker magic, etc is only 16 bit (which isn't good for aga, only good for ecs/ocs).

When I had my Scandy1200 internal scandoubler it displayed AGA graphics perfectly on my TFT.
I presume the Scandy1200 is only 16bit. Whats the fuss? It never even crossed my mind that the AGA gfx were not being displayed correctly through it, because they weren't |

I can't see why someone would make a ECS scandoubler for an AGA system ? Once I saw a test picture to check if all bits are remaining, something like shades of green I guess. does someone have it ?

@alexh
Thanks. I never had any problem with my SD/FF. It's the best (imo) SD/FF. |

Should look imperceptibly smooth on a 24-bit scandoubler. Will look stepped on a 16-bit scandoubler. Use this image in windows. http://www.spronkey.com/sdc-gradients.png View it in 24 (or 32-bit) and then switch to 16-bit and you will see the 5:6:5 RGB effect. You cannot use that picture directly on the Amiga because AGA can only easily display 256 colours at the same time, you need to cut up the RED, GREEN and BLUE bits into separate images, or generate your own in PC D-Paint. |

The top part of Gradients.png displays 100% pixel perfect in HAM8 mode with any HAM8 pic viewer such as Visage or Viewtek etc.
It will clearly show if you have a crap 16-bit flickerfixer or a good 24-bit flickerfixer. |

When you use crap 16-bit flickerfixer you are limiting yourself to 32 shades of red, green and blue.
AGA provides 256 shades of red, green and blue. |

Only need 256 colors to test all the pure red shades.
Only need 768 colors to test all the pure red, green and blue shades. Trust in the HAM |

I realised what I had said as soon as I had posted.
I was thinking of a colour cube rather than these gradients. |
