Amiga floppy drive simulator

Randomly browsing around eBay I found this :

Now to me it just looks like some ribbon cable with a dsub at 1 end and the floppy drive connector at the other and a hole in some wires. Unless something is hidden in that dsubs hood?

Does anyone have any info on this device, I would like to try to make 1 if its not too hard, from what I gather all the work is done in software?

I did not find much while Googling. All the other floppy sims. I ever came across were stand alone things that took CF/SD/MMC cards and the like.

Yeah, it just connects your Amigas floppy to a PCs parallel port. Then you "emulate" the floppy drive on the PC. I imagine it's just a cable - doubt there are much gubbins inside.

You'll need the PC software though of course...

Worth looking into though, if only for something to have around the house, never know 1 day might need it

I know that feeling, and when you need it you can't find it, or you find it a few years after it was bought, and forgot what it was
