Long filenames filemanager
Ok heres the problem:
Id like to keep my installed WHDload games up to date so i thought it would be the best to copy all of KGs installed whdload games as zip files over to my amiga via network. Copying went fine, but i cant see the whole filename in DirOpus 5.5, so i cant extract them. Im using the latest SFS, so the files have the full names, but DirOpus and any other filemanager i tried wont display all characters. Any advice which filemanager displays full filenames and supports extracting zip files? |

I've had this problem myself....I think the filenames exceed the Amiga's limit (30?), what you could do is rename them so they're shorter and put .lzx/.zip (whatever type archive it is) on the end so you can extract them in DOpus.
EDIT: Didn't read post properly, you're using SFS... but maybe it's worth a go anyway until you can find a "proper" solution? |

dopus 4.16 ' aminet version support long filenames
also diskmaster 2 on aminet but dopus 5 support long filenames as well...you must config it because by default only read 30....go to enviroment/directories and set there to read long filenames |

Thanks for the replies.
Looks like my Dopus 5.5 doesnt have the option to read long filenames. Diskmaster 2 seems to support long filenames, but id love to use diropus. If i only could find the damn option... Is there any update i missed? |

check on options....generally named "environment"...look for a option named "maximum file lenght" and set it to 107 cause is the maximum supported by SFS |

Yeah I'm a big fan of DOpus 4, that's why I've never seen this problem unpacking the archives

@Bippy: Nope it isnt there.
@KG: I think i will give Opus4 a go. First thing i recognised is that it doesnt support drag and drop like Opus5. What a shame that Opus5 cant do things Opus4 can do. Im using it for years but never came across that problem. |

Dopus5 latest version support long filenames. But sometimes it too does not read them. I had to open another one or two listers and resfresh the contents and close the previous listers to fix that problem. (on my real amiga)

Strange, I am using Dopus 5.82 for years already and I never had a bug with long filenames. And bippy, Dopus v5.xx > Dopus 4. (actually, I use both of them, Magellan as WB replacement and Opus4 sometimes for small tasks (i.e. mostly when I don't want to boot into WB.)

I really like my Dopus 5.5 config and im using it for years. I dont want to go back to Opus4 for just the long filename reason. Is there any way to update 5.5 to the latest 5.82 version? |
