A2000, leaky battery?

Hi, just got my A2000. Wondering if my battery is corroding my mobo or not? Seems that its got some white stuff on it and has blue patches around it.

Should I chop off the battery? I dont need the time anyway.

How can I clean up the blue stuff?

tnx

Remove the battery and clean that blue crud off the motherboard since it will continue to eat into the circuits.

Your lucky to reach it in time, a leaky battery killed my amiga 500 plus. As I didn't know about it at the time.

Ok, new question about my A2000.

I have a rev 6 board. I have this little green board poking out. Ive looked at loads of other pics of A2000 rev 6 boards and none of them have it....what is it?

*DON'T* try to take it off! At least, don't try to pry it out!!! My A2000 (Rev. 6.0) also has such a thing, and it is definitely soldered in! (Two of the "IC sockets" on the extra PCB on the right side are actually 'pass-thrus' that are both soldered to the extra PCB and to the motherboard.)

From the available information (schematics and motherboard photos on www.amiga-hardware.com) I suppose that it is a "factory hack" - an undocumented production variation, probably related to the earliest Rev 6.0 A2000 motherboards.

The 'pass-thrus' connect to the places U540 and U541 on the motherboard - according to the schematics, these should be 74LS244 bus drivers, responsible for connecting the DRAM chips' address and RAS/CAS lines to the Fat Agnus.

I suspect that there were some minor timing issues with the first batch of 256Kx4 DRAM chips (the main novelty of Rev 6 A2000s was the application of 256Kx4 DRAMs instead of 256Kx1) and the C= production engineers covered it by tossing in this extra PCB with a few extra ICs but not documenting it, as they knew that the next batch of DRAMs would be better anyway...

Thanks for clearing that up
