A1200 missing port
Well i recently purchased a spare mobo for my 1200, but i noticed that one of the joy/mouse ports is missing. There are no signs of broken parts or so, and i suspect that the second port was simply detached, as it seems to be one connection that has n othing.
It's a rev 1D4. So anyone know what is happening with this board?. |

Problem solved. It was what i have thought, as i have seen a photo of a 1d4 mobo and seen the port i'm referring connected via ribbon cable, so hence the fact that no broken/cutted board signs were.
By the way, anyone knows if this type of port is sold in any amiga retailer?. Thanks. |

Take a spare PC Serial port of an old PeCe (386er/486er) and plug it in
It allready got the right connector at the end of the ribbon cable |

It will work ofr sure?, i didn't know that. Thanks for pointing me out, i will search on an old 486 i have to get this port. One thing i have noticed, is that not on all pc boards those 9 pin ports were attached by ribbon cables, as most of them are directly soldered on the mobo.

Well, it worked for me
Anyway, on "many" old PeCes those are not soldered because they had seperate I/O Controller cards for serial/parallel .... so you might be lucky |

My Rev. 2B board had a small PCB on the end with the mouse port on it. I have no clue why Commodore did that - very odd!

@MacMiga
There should be no logic on that board and it uses the same plug at the mobo, you can also use the ribbon thingy on that |

Today i plugged all together, but the mouse don't work. I cannot move the pointer, and the odd fact is that the left button act as if it were the right button. Could be that i have plugged it inverse on the mobo?. By the way, the red mark on the cable is matching the mark on the mobo. Maybe this cable is some kind of reversed.
Any help? |

There's two kinds of cables..
In one sort, the wires correspond to the pin numbers, and in the other the wires correspond to the actual pin positions.. So if you have a D9: Code:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 123456789 or 162738495 I don't know which one is supported by the A1200, perhaps someone can take a look at theirs. |

Mmm, i tried to put it in a pc tower, but the mobo couldn' fit in it. even moving the psu wouldn't leave margin to put it, so finally, i put it in the standard a1200 case. I don't know exactly waht measure it has.
By the way, has anyone on this board know what is the correct pin setup for the mouse port? At the moment i use the mouse via the joystick port, using a program in the cli called setmport, that i use in the startup-sequence to get the mouse usable when workbench loads, but i intend to play games also on the 1200, so i need the mouse to be put on the mouse port and leaving the joy port for my beloved competition pro 5000. Has anyone figured out the pins? |

I have the exact same problem (hence no mouse).. If someone could point me to a site with the correct pinouts on the 1200 moby.. I could probably hack the connector to work!

On a 1d.4 motherboard there is a pin header that you connect the mouse daughterboard to.. I need the pinout to this so I can butcher the PC serial port I have to work properly Quote:
