WinUAE 1.1 Misc/Priority settings crash

Hi there.

I've installed the latest WinUAE 1.1 on Win98SE and I'm getting an illegal operation error message when I click on the Misc or Priority settings:

WINUAE caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:760e1470.
Registers:
EAX=8196e678 CS=018f EIP=760e1470 EFLGS=00010246
EBX=8196e618 SS=0197 ESP=06bcff9c EBP=06bcffcc

EDX=8196e678 ES=0197 EDI=81986964 GS=52e6
Bytes at CS:EIP:

If I try to select Misc/Priority when WinUAE is actually emulating, the program crashes/exits to the desktop with no error message. And 7-zip/RAR support has stopped working for me with this release.

Anyone experiencing similar problems?

Yeah, confirmed. It crashes under Win98. It works ok under Win XP, though!

Yep, that solved that particular problem, thanks.

Looks like I'll have to revert to the previous WinUAE release then.

The trace-log from "ShowDep" v4.0 reports an access to
the WnASPI32.dll in both cases. On my Windows98 the
WnASPI32.dll is the latest v4.71.2 from Adaptec and I get
NO crashes when opening Misc or Priority here

Does it stop crashing if you temporarily delete (backup it first..) c:\windows\system\wnaspi32.dll ?

@Toni:

If I delete wnaspi32.dll under Win98, it does NOT crash.

Thanks.

WinUAE tries to detect if wnaspi32.dll exists by loading it and then immediately unloading it (of course unloading it only if load succeeded)

I really hate Windows 9x/ME but I'll still try to "fix" this. (maybe more like adding some stupid workaround..)

Whats the version (right click and properties in explorer) and size (in bytes) of your wnaspi32.dll?

Right, I've installed the latest ASPI drivers and - guess what - WinUAE crashing problem solved! Thank you ever so much.

Toni, here are the details of the wnaspi32.dll I had on my system previously:

File Version: 1, 0, 0, 0
Product Version: 2, 0, 0, 0
Size: 36kb

V1.000 is the original MS version from the Win98_39.cab!

I replaced ASPI detection with version number check (GetFileVersionInfo() instead of LoadLibrary()) which should fix the crash problem and also prevents old obsolete versions from being used. (=no more bluescreens when uaescsi.device is enabled and Windows9x-build in wnaspi32.dll is not updated)
